Either banged up or worn out. I've thought this ever since Erixon started playing. We'll see Stralman back in the lineup at some point.

Beam Man deserves some major props. His NHL career was basically over, no one wanted him. And yet again the Rangers find the castoff no one else wants and voilá, he plays like a top 4 D-man when we need him to.

Does he have holes in his games? Sure. He has some off nights, but who doesn't? But what he brings to the table is great for us. He's a solid skater, his shot is solid and he doesn't hesitate to use it from the point. He's better at hitting the net than probably any of our D-men. If not for that great save by Anderson in game 6 or 7 (can't remember which) by the end of the 1st period, he has 3 goals by now. His passing game is ok, he upholds puck tempo on the PP. He's one of our better offensive pinchers. When he's our D-man back on an oddman rush, chances are he will make the right play.

What a warrior he has been, especially in this playoff. With Staal and Sauer and usually another D-man as well out for most of the season, where would our D corps be without him plugging that hole?

Major props to our scouting department as well. They are just great at finding the rough diamonds in the dirt. They see which players will benefit from playing in our system. Beam Man certainly benefits from it, he's a better player for us than he has been for any other NHL organization. We let him play to his strengths, which lies in his mobility. Torts has also helped Beam Man plug some holes in his defensive game.

Stralman is arbitration eligible this summer. He is two years away from group III. So the Rangers could sign him to a 1 year deal and still have his rights for 13-14 if they qualify him next summer.

Going to be interesting. I'm sure Sather pushes for a 1 yr deal and Stralman will want a 2/3 yr deal.

I really like Stralman and hope he is brought back next year. Perfect #6, decent on the PP and probably has best point shot.

Hopefully Erixon makes the jump next year and is a regular with Sauer hopefully healthy too. I know this wont be popular but i would use Del Zotto in a package to upgrade scoring as i see Erixon as being the better player in the long run. This thread isn't about Del Zotto though.

Stralman apart from a few rough patches has been excellent. lets be honest all bottom pairing dmen will have rough spells but Stralman's are minimal for the role he is in.

I for one hope he comes back.

Little risk.

And sign Schultz.

McDonagh
Girardi
Staal
Del Zotto

Are locks.

Stralman
Erixon
McIlrath
Schultz (if signed)
Bickel
Eminger (if re signed)
Sauer (if healthy)

Good competition for the remaining two open spots.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I'm very impressed and also surprised over Stralman's season. I feel like the Rangers have really turned him into a servicable player. In Toronto and Columbus I felt like they just took him for what he was and didn't work on the glaring holes in his game, despite him being a young player with room for improvement. Hopefully this is the turning point.

He's earned a spot on this team going forward. I think it's a real shame if he isn't re-signed this summer. He's a more than adequate third pairing defenseman. I think, besides his offensive contributions, and his improved defensive game, I'm most impressed with his mental toughness.

He's handled Johnny Cakes' personality quite well, and doesn't seem to skip a beat even after the occasional Tortorella jerk around where he gets benched for one slip-up or something like that.

Means he can handle the environment here. Lock him up.

Agreed. And at $945k, I think there's absolutely no way the team doesn't qualify him.

He will be brought back at a cheap price to at worst be a 7th, 8th defenseman for cheap, while we will let Eminger go, in all likelihood.

Stralman has been great. He just needs to stop screening Lundqvist.

He is trying to block shots. It happens.

Stralman has played very well for us. Wouldn't mind seeing him back next year.

He didn't look like he was trying to block a shot in that Ottawa game when the puck was shot between his legs (in OT, I believe).

I'm drooling at the thought of McD, Girardi, Staal (with full training camp), MDZ, Sauer (hopefully with a full training camp and healthy), and Stralman. On many teams Stralman is a top 4 D-man.

when he plays hard, he's playing like a good solid #3-#5...when he's loafing around and not moving his feet, it's more like a #8-#9 type defenseman (ie top 3 AHL defenseman).

He's inconsistent...and his games swing wildly from one week to another.

If he gains consistency he's a keeper. if not, we have options coming.

Underrated and very important to this team. Hes first pass is great, first round was money on the PP to get us rolling and has simply kept it simple and played very well.
