I had it down to him and a couple of swedish defenseman. I just couldn't pass up on him after seeing him wreck the Swedes in the gold medal game.

I was looking to take Kerdiles lol but with the 27th pick the Pittsburgh Penguins are pleased to select from the USA under 18 defenceman Brady Skjei.

Brady is a big strong blueliner with an offensive upside.

St. Louis has been pm'ed

He wasn't making it unless the last top 20 guy on my list slipped to me

There's two and I know they won't be there when I pick again.

With the 28th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, the St. Louis Blues are proud to select Hampus Lindholm.

Lindholm is an offensive defenseman with excellent skating ability, who stepped it up at the end of the season with Rögle and with the national U18 team of Sweden. We believe his hockey sense, passing ability and instincts will combine in making him a solid NHLer for years to come.

Next GM has been PMed.

Only 7 picks to go, and I still see at least 5 guys I would peg as potential 1st rounders left to choose from. Would have like Kerdiles instead of most of them, though, lol.

Lindholm slipping this far is actually quite surprising.

I dunno. Looks about right to me. I've seen at least one list with him in the early 30s, and I'm kinda surprised that he ranks as high as 4th among international skaters on other lists. I think he's kind of a "safe" pick, because he's solid (and big) yet unspectacular, imo.

He's a late riser. Kind of reminds me of OEL, a raw kid with good size, skating ability and offensive upside. Not as gifted, but he was so strong late in the year, both in the playoffs (a huge reason Rögle was promoted to the SEL) and the U18.

I had him at 18, but he might skip a few guys and find his way into the top 15 on draft day.

Don't know about "hockey sense" or upper offensive potential (hence OEL's draft "pedigree"), but otherwise (stylistically, "poise", overall "package", etc) the comparison is pretty decent, imo.

It was a nice surprise for me as I had him at 12 on my list. Only defensemen ahead of him on my list are Murray, Rielly, Dumba, Maata and Trouba.

If trades were allowed (which I'm glad they are not), I'd probably be looking for an early second round pick. Still lots of highly ranked players on my list available. 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25 and 30 have yet to be taken out of my list.

Good picks, Kerdiles and Lindholm were half of my top 4.

With the 29th overall pick, the New York Rangers select from Modo Hockey, Ludvig Byström

Byström is an intelligent puck moving defenseman with potential on both sides of the ice. We believe his talents will make him an impact player in the NHL, and the Rangers are thrilled to have an opportunity to draft someone so talented.

With the 30th pick of the 2012 NHL entry draft, the Vancouver Canucks are proud to select, from the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League,...

Defenseman Damon Severson.

We love Damon's physical, two-way play. He comes from a program in Kelowna that has produced some serious NHL talent on defense and we believe he has the ability to be part of that group. The fact he plays in our backyard is the cherry on top. He injects some muscle and talent into our blueline prospect pool, and we hope to see him log heavy minutes on our defense for many, many years.

PM'ing Columbus

Bathgate is gone, and who knows how many of Noesen, Aleardi, Rackell, Miller, and Heard will be back with Plymouth next season. Heck, same thing with Schmitz and Levi when it comes to offense coming from the defense on that team.
I know everyone bags on his lack of offense for a first rounder (and rightfully so, but then again this is a weak draft) but man...I've loved every game I've seen him play. Such a gamer.

Even if he only tops out as a fourth-liner in the NHL, he's the kind of fourth-liner I'd take on my team any day.

Also a big fan of this pick. I knew he'd be gone before my next pick at 37, but I held onto a sliver of hope anyway heh. I think he could be a draft day riser, like Noesen last year.

Oh, I wouldn't say "lack of offense". He showed in the playoffs that he can capitalize on chances just fine, and is a damn good hockey player (in the "true" sense of the word). And let's be honest, every team wants to get at least a "guy like him" out of this draft - it's just a matter of how high a pick you're willing to use.

For our 2nd round pick, 30th overall, the Columbus Blue Jackets are proud to select, from the Michigan Wolverines Phil Di Guiuseppe. We love his speed and high skill level and think he can be a difference maker in our team's group of top 6 forwards within two to three years. Michigan has a strong track record with coach Red Berenson of developping youg talent.

I may have missed something here, too lazy to read all the posts, but did CBJ not get LA's 1st rounder in the Carter deal and New Jersey has no 1st rounder due to the Kovalchuk signing?

It was Columbus choice of 2012 or 2013 1st round pick. With next year looking like a stronger first round, we're assuming they will take next year's pick.
