Anthem Singer

Not sure if this is an ignorant question or not, but I've watched quite a few NYR games this year and I'm wondering why in god's name they keep the same anthem singer for every game? He's friggin aweful.

Is there a back story as to why he's still there? Has he been the anthem singer for a long period of time, and people just want him to stick around?

So I take it he has quite the following with NY fans then. I can understand the attachment, but he's just so awful (singing wize). He seems like a likeable guy.

You shut your dirty pirate hooker mouth about John Amirante. The man is a legend at the Garden.

Amirante has become a NYR institution, not unlike Rene Rancourt at Bruins home games. At least Amirante has a better voice than Rancourt.

Yes, very very ignorant. John Amirante is a legend in New York.

Go away...go far away.

The same sentiments I have for Sam Rosen commenting on MSG networks: John Amirante should be allowed to sing the anthem for any game that he wants to for the rest of his life, even if he can no longer speak. I am as patriotic as anyone, but even if I can't hear him sing the anthem, just seeing him center stage on the ice before the game...nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will get me more pumped up for a Rangers game. The man is a legend.

AGREED.

Really Really wish they would show the anthem before the games on TV.

A good one ALWAYS gets me pumped up.

John Amirante is an MSG stable. He is up there with Messier Leetch & Richter. His wig should be hanging in the rafters of MSG.
