The Caps accomplished the mission of the visiting team, to go in and win one of the first two games. Now it's a 5 game series and they have home ice advantage.

Highlights:

A timely power play goal

A Marian Gaborik sighting on a nice play to assist Richards goal

Lowlights:

Bickel and Lundqvist gift the Caps two goals

Kreider and Rupp don't score on partial breakaways

Borderline calls by the refs

post, post, etc.

Boyle needs to go back on the IR ASAP and good luck to Bickel in Hartford.

I'm going to receive flak for this but Richards shouldn't have done that. Dive or no dive, it doesn't absolve Richards.

Its only one game guys and we were clearly the better team, in 2 days we get back on the ice and continue to dominate and hopefully without stupid mistakes from Lundqvist and Bickel. We got this.

I always say I can deal with a loss if the Rangers played well. Now you know how Senators fans felt all last series.

That was far and away our best game of hockey in about a month. A bad pass by Bickel, a brainfart by Lundqvist and a bad call by the officials lost us the game. I'm proud of how they played, and if they keep that up nobody will stop them.

PoTG: Del Zottos best game in awhile.

Good: Nearly everyone.

Bad: Gaborik was better but still not where he needs to be. Obviously Bickel. Lundqvist wasn't stellar but he wasn't bad, that play on the 2nd goal was pathetic though.

Redden: I am so sick of Prust. The guy is flat out awful if he's not fighting and taking someone else off the ice.

I'll be the first to say move on, it sucks, but they played good.

Bickel and Lundqvist made the stupidest mistakes on the first two goals. Those don't happen, we win, even if you think the refs blew the calls.

If they play like this, minus the two ridiculous mental gaffes, they're good to roll.

Nothing about their overall game tonight indicated to me that they can't win this series, or any series.

As bad as that call on Richards was, we lost this game ourselves. The two brainfarts in the first period and failing on two clear cut breakaways isn't going to get the job done.

Outside of one good passing play, Gaborik continues to SUCK. Not happy with the kind of production this guy is giving us during the post season. In a 1 goal game he HAS to be a difference maker. He HAS to score a goal. And he can't. The guy is our highest paid player to be a difference maker, and he has been a complete bust in the post season.

No its not. If Bickel and Lundqvist don't make those ridiculous plays then it probably ends up a 2-0 or 2-1 Ranger win.

Yes, let's blame the refs for the two boneheads mistakes by the team that resulted in two goals.

Refs were not good, but lets stop blaming them for EVERY loss.

Gaborik looks lost 95% of the time right now. Callahan should run him.

bickel? try mdz. this was a poorly as hell reffed game. if richards doesn't get interfered with there's no call and no ovi goal. can't even deny that.

Rushed pass by Bickel on the first goal. A series of unfortunate events on the second goal. Then the refs deciding to get some face time in the third.

Cut out the mistakes, hope the refs stop blowing the game and we're in good shape

It takes an awfully large load of arrogance and ignorance to blame an entire loss on the referees, if Richards scored coming out of the box on a breakaway would the refs be the reason Rangers won?

One thing that I was happy about was that we actually got pressure when the goalie was pulled. For ONCE. No, we didn't score. But we had some really nice chances and a post. I haven't seen us play so well with Hank pulled in a long time. May just be because we match up well with the Caps, but I loved that pressure. I was pretty surprised we didn't score, really.

the whole game is not on the refs...but the end is...there is no reason to call a penalty liek that when they let a lot of other junk that is worse go by...

richards seems pissed, he is going to be elevating his game on wednesday big time

also-- what's with this terrible hagelin/richards/kreider line? either use kreider/richards/gaborik or kreider/stepan/gaborik. stacking our speed guys makes other lines dumb
