The two-ref system meant a lot of lower tier guys got more work and they had to essentially call up and train a bunch of guys from the minors. So, the talent pool is diluted. Add that to the speed of the current game and presto.

(total speculation rant)

Why? Keep scoring more shorthanded goals than both teams have PP's combined and it's a winning combination

Also, Penner was offsides on the GWG goal by carter.
Yeah, this is what I was worried about when all the veterans retired about 5 or 6 years ago. We are now seeing the result.

People are allowed to discuss the things that haven't been positive either. That doesn't mean they're not elated with where the team is at right now. You don't dictate what folks can talk about.

Man the commentating was ugly... Great win though!

Despite what Hayward says, the Kings PK (I think) is serving a good motivation for the Kings.

Great win, ugly finish. Kings continue to prove all the haters and doubters wrong. I hope the refs cool off a bit next game, because that was some craziness.

There's reason for it.The penalty parade could have got the Blues pp going and even won the game for them tonight, just like what happened in our series with Vancouver. The Blues pp got them back into the series with SJ and helped win it. Killing 9 penalties is asking way too much for the defense.

This is my favorite part--making all the experts/bad commentators/cocky opponents eat their words. Nom nom nom.

Kings are gonna be the first team to entirely luck their way to a cup in Haywards eyes.

Hey, guys.

Wasn't sure if this was posted somewhere but I heard the game would have been different if Pietro had played!?!?!

Great game! It's a good thing Quick is almost as good as Elliott

Go Kings!

True that. And now we're supposed to feel bad for them and let them say whatever they want because it's venting?

Meanwhile, I was actually trying to cheer up Canucks fans after their losses. Blues fans can go jump off a bridge into a river of tears for all I care.

I somewhat agree, however I don't see how the Blues PP is "so good". I mean they killed SJ on it, and I know the Kings are usually great on the PP, but that was one ugly 5-3 they had there in the 3rd. I don't see how St Louis is going to win more than 1 game this series unless their PP just catches absolute fire.

really happy with the win. Me and my dad said before the game that richards, kopitar and carter needs to get on the scoreboard.

and all of them scored tonight.

I also said that williams needs to get going as well and right after I said that, he scored

also nice to hear the beautiful voices of Bob and jim after hearing those clowns

I love it too. They are going to make an art of back pedaling, that's for sure. I also love how the Blues score one goal and all of a sudden it's like they Kings are trailing by four.

Congratulations Kings. Very nice strong first period and tons of penalties throughout the game but good PKing.

Rooting for you in round 2 and I would love to see the battle of the Pacific in round 3.

Hayward is a complete f'ing tool. "if Quick does have a hole in his game, (then mummbles) trust me, he has a few I know)...." blah blah blah. F NBC and their crew tonight man. Even coming back during intermission they come back and instead of saying the Kings have a 5-1 lead, they say Blues down to the Kings by a score of 5-1. Nice unbiased commentary...
