Sutter has had a lot to do with that I'm sure, and I'm sure his divorce also affected his play a great deal, not unlike when Quick had his first child and his on-ice play suffered. Hard to think about work when major off-ice issues are going on - positive or negative.

He's been terrific this series.

Penner needed some major motivation and Sutter obviously has provided that.

That first period was just ridiculous. It looked like the Blues had prepared all game for Kopitar Brown, and had no clue how to deal with Richards Carter.

Center depth and having two actual scoring lines has made a major difference on this team.

They've got to be neutral and again, I thought they were very complimentary of the Kings when they deserved the compliments.

NBC has improved the production value of the game dramatically over the past few years. They put FSN to shame with the camera angles, the replays... the production value overall is very, very good. They thought enough of the series to have 3 announcers work it, which they usually reserve for their #1 broadcast only.

If you want to ***** about something, how about that awesome postgame show? CNBC went straight into a show about Costco, NBC Sports was showing poker.
It didn't bother me at all, but the announcers were of course slightly biased against Kings. In fact I have been just thinking that every game in the playoffs, where Bob and Jim were not there, was biased against the Kings (and it hasn't bothered me). The same way as Bob and Jim are biased FOR the Kings. I'm thinking this could change in couple of seasons.

Oh and camera angles - some really great camera angles there, agreed.

Penner and Stoll are making life very complicated for Dean Lombardi, thats for sure.

Honestly, who DIDN'T play well tonight?

agree with Sutter's comments:

after the game that the 3 teams on the ice weren't very good after the 1st period,

meaning that the refs were awful,

and they were,

they let the Blues rough up the Kings w/out calling enough penalties against those losers!

People get on Penner for effort, but I think it's confidence more than anything else. I think he bottomed out at some point, and has slowly started to rebuild. And, really, I hope so because he could be a great player. He's really showing us a lot right now, and I'd be happy to have him back next year.

This post season is kinda surreal. I knew LA was going to the finals in 92-93', this one is just almost painful. Feel like my heart can't take it but they keep winning. Amazed and trying to take it all in.

Keep going boys, don't let up!

Go Kings Go!

That was a great game, good fast start and the Kings set that same tempo all game long. yeah the offense kinda lagged the last 2 periods but being up 5-1 who needs more offense? They did a great job of protecting the lead. Now we get to come home up 2-0 again I just hope this time we wont have to go back on the road to finish out the series. Im hoping for a Kings/Coyotes confrence final, we can beat the Coyotes in 4 games no doubt. Kings/Devils in the finals would be pretty interesting I think

Also, FSw post game was scheduled to start at 10:30 pm, they ran it at 10 pm instead.

Yep. And that's about it. I can deal with that. Martinez is growing more comfortable as well.

I think Richards was hurt early in the Vancouver series. That extra week off seems to have helped. He looks much better against st Louis.

Great seeing carter take advantage of a good bounce to snipe that goal. Wicked wrist shot.

I hope doughty doesn't just turn into a shutdown defenseman. Kings need his offense to wake up on the PP. need that swagger back.

Just finished watching the game on my dvr.

Nothing new to add. Fantastic first period (which is all it took) and the refs were crap.

Usually when the Kings score. I jump up and yell either "goal, scores or yeah!" but on Kopitar's goal I just went "ooooooooooooh snap!" and try climb back into my chair like something was gonna attack me!

Penner has had a lot of jump in his legs during the playoffs. I'm glad he hasn't forgotten how to play. Didn't he give some comment to a reporter earlier in the playoffs to the effect of "I used to be a good hockey player" or something like that? This is the guy we traded a 1st and Teubert for. Better late, than never and I'm pleased as punch he's delivering when it matters. He's really the perfect fit for the Richards/Carter line.

I do remember a few of those goals... Gretzky's SH goal came against Toronto (I believe it was the one where he banked it off the skate of Dave Ellett). I remember Taylor scoring a SH goal against the Habs off a rush from the right side, Taylor had a rocket and him and Conacher were a great PK unit (plus I liked their line with Rychel), but yes, I did have to look it up.

Welcome to hfboards.

I don't think anyone should be taking the coyotes lightly.

Lets take care of the blues first, eh.

A decent article with video on the Penner hit and some follow up helmet breaking. Good stuff - NHL Playoffs!

Those of you with Apple TV's and GameCenter subscriptions can now watch the replay of the complete game. "Blues feed" is NBC. "Kings feed" is TSN.

All kinds of highlights and analysis on the http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/ page over in the video section.
