I believe the Flyers come out way better than the last game, G said it was embarrissing how they came out in game 1, so with that being said I have faith they will come out and play way better, also I would like to see them play a lot more physical, hitting everything and putting way more pressure on their Dmen, so the forecheck will get motoring

Lou is addressing the media today with a Kovy update. Timmy P thinks that he will not be in the lineup tonight. Tim Sestito could be replace him in the lineup

Woot, just read the @TpanotchCSn tweet!

"Sounds like Kovie is out for Game 2 if Lou is addressing media on this today"

Also, @Ledger_NJDevils says "Devils GM Lou Lamoriello will Address Media. Likely a Kovalchuk update."

Only times I somewhat noticed Kovalchuk in a positive way was on their PP's. I'd rather have him dressed, he was in so much pain I felt bad for him. Can barely skate.

Maxpac's question reminds me of the CBC pre-game show for Game 1. Ron MacLean was handed the line-up cards and says something like 'The Devils are starting Parise, Elias and Zubrus, with Brodeur in net, of course. What the hell? The Flyers are starting Talbot, Couturier and Wellwood? What is Laviolette thinking?'

For a pompous hockey know-it-all, you'd think he would have watched a period or two of the Flyers before round 2.

As long as the puck is on his stick in the offensive zone he is a threat. If the announcement is that he is out, it's welcomed IMO.

He doesnt need to skate to snipe top cheedah

Kovalchuk remained in New Jersey. Confirmed, he is out due to a lower body injury.

Yup.

Kovalchuk is playing at 70% maybe (if that) and was a defensive liability (the Briere breakaway goal doesnt happen if Kovy's healthy).

If anything, Bernier was the Devils' MVP in the 1st Round, not often you say that about a 4th-liner, so it's probably good that he'll get more minutes.

Confirmed - Kovy has an "LBI" which is suspected to be a groin pull sustained last series

Forgot to note that Scott Hartnell was limping badly today with a huge ice pack taped to his left ankle/foot.

He took a shot off the boot in Game 1.

Same status as yesterday's practice - the limping w/ice pack. he is playing tho. Not sure why our reporters share such details - definite fodder for other team. i.e. he may have trouble skating back, etc

I don't doubt that it is sore and hurting, but often when these guys take shots off the foot, it isnt the pain that keeps them out, but not being able to put a skate on due to swelling.

Thats the first thing I learned when I played in a tourny once upon a time, take a big shot off the foot, you better hope your next game isn't for a while or you'd be best to just keep the skate on

Hopefully Hartnell's foot is just a big bruise and not a break

Possible NJ lines (not confirmed)

Quote:
Peter Harrold skating at RW on fourth line with Carter and Gionta. Larsson paired with Volchenkov. Other two D pairs the same.

Elias centering Parise and Clarkson. Zajac centering Ponikarovsky and Zubrus; Henrique centering Sykora and Bernier.

The time-tested adage is "don't take off the skate, because you won't get it back on."

This is either crazy, or brilliant.

EDIT: And the Vegas lines have already moved with the Kovalchuk announcement, making the Flyers an even bigger favorite tonight.

Flyers cant back down with Kovy out. Neal was out the first time Pitts won.

Can't back down.

Which is ridiculous. I like Kovy, but he was hurting the Devils more than he was helping them.

Should be interesting to see how Larsson fairs against the forecheck.

Agreed, Kovy was worthless with his injury. Now they'll replace him with someone that can actually skate.

have you watched Wellwood play at all? he's got speed, decent offensive skill, defensive awareness and can kill penalties

Shelley is terrible...I won't go into detail
Sestito is currently injured, but could eventually find is way into the line-up if he recovers in time and we're still playing
Rinaldo has a target on his back and gets called for everything
