Chris Lee is an ass-clown but he's an ass-clown both ways. Devils got away with a lot of hooks and picks in game 1, exactly the type of ticky tack calls that Lee specializes in.
The game itself suffers tonight, not the Flyers.
I disagree. Not from a bias perspective though. The Flyers showed that their up tempo offensive game worked well against the Devils in game 1. By the time OT came around, you could tell that the Flyers had completely wore them down. You don't get the full effect from that type of play when there is a penalty called every 5 minutes. Lee completely ruins the flow of the game by calling every little thing. The best games we've seen, in any of the series, have all been when the refs let the players decided the game.
Granted, we saw 9 PPs in game 1, but with Lee being out there, its almost a given that we see quite a few more. IMO, he's the worst ref in the game.
No. The only reason you're saying that is he made a bad mistake that led to a goal.
He was flawless handling the puck otherwise on Sunday, bailed out his D a few times, and is still likely the best goalie in the NHL with the puck on his stick (certainly top-3 at worst).
I agree completely. In the first period, the Flyers weren't being very careful with their dump ins. Brodeur was getting to them and completely offset our forecheck. Once the Flyers started keeping their dump ins away from Marty, things started to change quite a bit.

It's funny, right after I posted that, I was thinking the very same thing. I find Lee, when paired with a good ref (Sutherland tonight or McCauley in PHX-CHI's game 6) can be tolerable and doesn't nearly bog down the play like he does during the regular season.
I agree with this. Brodeur's puck handling neutralized a lot of attempts at offense in the last game.
True. Hard to dump it deep and hope you'll get great chances. They seemed to have more success when they executed some good rushes. That being said, you can still dump and create havoc with a good forecheck to make it a difficult play for any goaltender, even one of Brodeur's ability. I think that's gotta be in the playbook.
