Greg Moore was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker award for best College Hockey palyer this year. There is a typo on the NHL.com's site that says hes a Calgary Flames prospect. I don't think there are 2 Greg Moore's of Maine's roster.
It's no worse than the CHL player of the year award. Of the winners between 1993 and 2003 (not arbitrary, the early 90s is when the NCAA became a real bonafide place for players to develop) in each league, the NCAA has 5 current NHL players, the CHL 5.
In other words, these awards don't mean anything one way or the other.

It's not a typo. It does not say that he is a Calgary Flames prospect just that he was drafted by the Calgary Flames. The Rangers got Greg Moore in a trade in 2004 for Chris Simon. They also got Blair Betts in the same deal.
winning the hobey baker didn't hurt the futures of paul kariya, chris drury, brendan morrison, jordan leopold, and ryan miller...
it is that the trophy is a jinx as much as the simple fact that tearing it up in college or juniors or the minors doesn't guarantee success at the nhl level...there are tons and tons of guys that are top players at lower levels and then never amount to anything in the pros...
last year dylan hunter had more points than schremp, bobby ryan, patrick o'sullivan, etc but does that mean hunter is gonna be a better pro?? not at all
