I'm cool with this.

Current story on RDS is that Marc Bergevin is the heavy favorite to land the job.

I'm pretty happy. He seems like an intelligent, rational man. Hopefully he brings some sense and structure to this organisation. A real long term plan would be nice as well.

Not that much experience but not a complete rookie either. I'm glad its not a former glorified Hab player (that are rarely suited to be GMs) and even happier its not a former Sens like Gauthier (**** I hate these guys )

Can't wait to see what happens from now. I hope to see a good house cleaning. Anyone knows if he might have a preference for coach?

People on the main board crapping on him already....

For those who haven't seen it already, here's a nice little video of him and his story:

Great write-up. Notice how the Gazette of Montreal didn't even bother doing any actual sports journalism and left it for the Edmonton Journal to write up some analysis of prospective GMs. I cannot over-stress who pathetic The Gazette sports desk is.

Not a bad choice. Look forward to him at the helm(if this is indeed true).

I remember when Bergevin was playing with the Penguins, he was being described as the "bout-en-train" in the locker room (the guy that was always making jokes). He seems to have a great personality. That's quite a big contrast with Gauthier...

Yeah but he has lots of experience in the front office and with hockey ops (which is vital). Get some more analytic assistants (hell... even McGuire, or MathMan) and he's set.

When Sutter left his post as Calgary GM apparently the entire organization changed their style. Not that it changed for the better but... maybe Bergevin will bring something new and exciting to Habs land.

I thought from listening to Ron Fournier that Brisebois was the front runner. I'm fine with Bergevin too.

Could Brisebois return as Asst. GM? I know he's in Tampa but is that even a possibility?

It's funny. The interview was done early in the year and when he was asked if he would love to be the GM of Montréal, he acted like there was no way it would ever happen.

He has a lot of experience. Great personality.

I had no interest in brisebois. He's a lawyer, not really a scout or have any experience evaluating talent or building a team.

He does contracts and is pretty much a capologist.

Scout/ head scout of hawks 05-09 , director of player personel 09-11 , assistant gm since then

I think coupled with timmins, these guys can strike gold with 3 rd overall pick

He dicked around two AHL veterans and basically nickle-and-dimed them until they left for Europe. His "capology" contracts include such winners as Hamrlik at 5.5, Spacek at 3.8, Gomez at 7.3 and Gionta at 5.0. He's everything I dislike in a GM - no experience and no eye for talent.

Hamrlik was solid. Just a year too much IMO. Gionta as well, again, a year too much.

Bergevin was the clear frontrunner from the begining IMO.

Not surprised and thrilled that Molson and Savard found the right man for the job.
