Look for André Savard or Doug Risebrough or someone of that experience to be named Assistant GM.

Love this pick. Good job.

Vigneault next I hope.

Bergevin's picture on TSN with his glasses made me think of Jeff Goldblum. Maybe we need some themed avatars. A little chaos theory would be fitting for this team.

Ill be happy when it is official. For now, I am tentatively optimistic.

Concerned about his inexperience and lack of knowledge in the numbers department, but the hiring process looked thorough so I am cautiously optimistic alongside the incalculable relief McGuire wasn't named.

Cribbing management ideas from Chicago would be a very, very good idea. Sticking with ideas acquired during a 20-game NHL career in the 80s and 90s, not so much.

I'm certainly ready to over-analyze and read too much in his first few moves.

Looking forward to the fresh start, anyone who can play 1200 games as a D in the NHL has picked up some unique skills……let’s hope the tinker bell fringe on this board don’t go after Marc Bergevin for not drafting enough soft perimeter players while with Chi-town.

His drafting history is encouraging…..hard working 2way players, that would be nice.

Would be very happy if this is the choice to be honest.

Now that it is mostly over .. the only guy I really didn't want out of the rumoured final 3 was Brisebois but once it got to the final rumoured 3-4 my preference would have been Bergevin. He was amongst my top 4-5 from the beginning.

Crawford does speak french from his days with the Quebec. That one year in Quebec. 48 game lockout season.

Maybe Marc Bergevin could get the Habs Kane, Sharp or Toews

I don't know much about Bergevin but I deff. like him over Brisebois. Glad the Habs basically turned over every rock. This is how you search for a GM!!! I'm hoping Bergevin brings in a Dudley or someone with experience to help him along. I'd actually be ecstatic if he brought in Dudley.

Now we'll see who he grabs as coach. It will be interesting to see his vision.

Bergevin and McGuire down to the wire. Habs choose Bergevin. Good hockey man, great sense of humour. Should be a great fit.

Geoff Molson a indiqué à Pierre McGuire ce matin qu'il n'avait pas le poste de dg. Marc Bergevin est le nouveau dg.

Andre Savard was recently complaining that he never even received a call from the Habs for the job so I doubt we see him here in any capacity.

I am not against Bergevin but I am still not happy that they are limiting themselves to individuals that speak French.

They interviewed Nill as well, so they didn't limit themselves. Bergevin and Brisebois would've been highly considered for any GM post.

Very happy with this selection!

Hire an experienced guy like Dudley as his assistant and keep Timmins as the scout and things look very good.

I like this choice. Now we got the rest of the summer for a coach.

Anyone know if there will be a press conference ?

He was his coach for like a month and scratched him a few times in the playoffs.
