As Predator fans, what do you think is/are the most important aspect(s) of their play the team has to straighten out in order to turn this series around?
Defense, defense, defense. In that order
The team won the Detroit series in 5 games for two reasons. 1) the team defense was great, so Rinne only had to make a few awesome saves. 2) Detroit made a ton of mistakes on the defensive side of the puck (see also: Erat's amazing graviational pull).
This series is 2-0 in favor of the Coyotes because they have played great on both sides of the puck, and the Preds have been absolutely terrible defensively
The plan for tonight is to play keep away. Just keep the puck away from the Coyotes and tire them out by having them run around chasing after the puck and then when they are worn out go for the scoring kill/strike
This is the short and simple answer but it packs so much truth. The Coyotes consistently had a skater or two behind the Preds defense in game 2, they had a guy breaking down ice as soon as the puck was turned over and the Preds never matched them.
Tonight I expect a much, much, much tighter defensive effort from the Preds. Instead of trying to outscore Phoenix 6-5, they will try to shut them down and take advantage of any mistakes, looking for a 1-0 or 2-1 type of game.
