Interesting. I must confess I'm in no position to evaluate this move. Olli must want more term than we want to give him. I don't like our top 2 centers at all without Jokinen. We'll have the worst center ice in the NHL next year. That said, we need to rebuild anyways so as long as moves like this are accompanied by moving out Kipper this summer and Iginla at the 2013 deadline I'm fine with it. We have no one we legitimately know can play on either on the first two lines at center unless you count Cammaleri, and I like him better on the wing.
Seems like a pretty skilled player. Will probably take some time to adjust to the NHL and North American rinks. If it means Jokinen isn't coming back, well, then I'd say it's a good move.

Interesting how Stajan's missing? And as Gnome said, minus the unknown of Cervenka, FOs might be as bad if not worse as this year.

Agreed, I don't think you can give Olli more than two years at 8 million if you're the Flames. I think he gets 5 years and 22 million on the open market. Kind of a no brainer for him.
Good move and hope it works for the Flames. Nice to see the Flames dipping into the european market (Ramo, Cervenka, Horak) for new fresh talent. Now if they can get a coach who can put it all together, id love to goto more flames next year and see an exciting team on the ice.
Would rather see us take a risk on Cervenka than re-sign Olli.

I don't know much about Cervenka, but based on what I've read about him, seems like a low risk-high reward kind of signing. We're in no position to turn down skill right now.
