These are his KHL stats from last 2 seasons including recent playoffs where he was pretty good at face offs, the rest seems average to me. As far as I know Czech Extraliga doesn't note down such stats so FO-stats from his great seasons 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 aren't probably available (I also believe that in those seasons he was a winger on the line with Josef Beranek, so he might not have taken that many FOs)

Ehh he's soft and sure he can score, but almost 4 million for a guy that's never played in the NHL or on North American ice before? That's a bold move. Yeah he is one of the star hockey players to have never played in the NHL, its still a risk. Just because your a star in a Euro league doesn't make you an automatic shoo-in for the NHL.. See, Alexei Morozov.. Only saving grace IMO is that he has a 1 year deal in case he pans out, so you can't go wrong with the contract length. Also, if he does with Iginla what he did with Jagr in Russia.

I like the move as it's a cap space gamble...really. One year, guy is near a point a game player in the K.

Here is a right up on him and from this persons perspective he seems to handle things okay in his own end of the rink.

For the doubters, do we really have anything to lose?

looking at thoise numbers it looks to me like he has spent more time on the wing than at center in the KHL too. in the regular season this year he averaged 2.87 faceoffs taken per game, even 4th line centers in the NHL average 3x that per game

That seems expensive for a player who has never played in the NHL. Hope he doesn't pull a Brunnstrom.

I'd give him an extra foot on the leash for that

As far as FO values go, does the KHL have the same regularity of FO that NHL has? The 2.87 could be normal or way below normal if that is the case.

Really? I thought he did everything the coaching staff asked of him. Played against good competition, battled and put up points. This city sometimes gets an irrational hate for players. Olli played hard in his second stint here. Everyone will see how much we miss him in 2012-2013. He did a lot of heavy lifting. I'm not saying signing Jokinen to the kind of term and dollars he'll get on the open market would've been smart. I'd very much be against that, but "good riddance" is a little strong.

When did Vancouver get shipped out of North America?

He played for the Czech Olympic team.

As long as he points up more points then Matt Stajan I'll be a happy fan. Would be nice to see him translate his KHL game to the NHL.

Yeah, last time I watched him play in the KHL (playoffs last year), he was playing on the wing.

Not sure if he'll stick at center, but I think it'd be best to find a legitimate NHL center to have as an option.
I always saw him as more of a winger in the NHL.

Yeah I kind of forgot about Stajan.

I like Stajan as a person, and he's a decent player but I do not want to see Stajan in our top 6 next year unless in case of injuries. I still think if the Flames can deal him for any kind of positive assets that they should go ahead and do so.

@ Gnome, me too! I can't find any kind of stats whatsoever on his FO %. He has decent size and he obviously has quick hands, so lets hope that he is good on the dot.

EDIT: Never mind, I just needed to read on.

To bad there isn't a good defenceman that I know of we could pull out of the KHL too.

If he can win a faceoff and score in the shootout, its all good.

I'm not convinced it means Joker's done with the Flames now. Definitely means a centre is leaving, and it is probably Jokinen, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Stajan's trade value went up with his salary going below his cap hit - either trade or buyout would be my guess.

I agree.

I think what it means is that either Jokinen, Backlund or Stajan is done with the Flames.

Jokinen gets the highest percentage on that, but by no means is it a certainty that its him

Or keep jokinen and move Cervenka to the wing? I heard he can play wing too.
