I would say the triggerman from the point would solve a ton of problems.

IDK, I think it almost doesn't matter tbh. If we add goals, we add goals. Our centers are very decent. If Anisimov is our third line center, we have no problem.

My perfect offseason would be (and I know it would never happen):

1. Sign Schultz;
2. Trade Staal and Dubinsky for The Nailer;
3. Sign Parise.

Hagelin - Richards - Gaborik
Parise - Anisimov - Nail
Kreider - Stepan - Callahan
Rupp - Boyle - Prust

McDonagh - Girardi
Del Zotto - Sauer
Erixon - Schultz

This would be an amazing lineup, though I know it would never happen.

what do you guys think of this for my top 5 stars of the game

1-mcdonagh logged more minutes than anyone and battled even after that big hit
2-giradi similar thing, guy is bloody and keeps battling
3-henrik solid as always
4-callahan hitting/blocking warrior on ice
5-holtby have to give him the final star

That's what I figure.

Girardi gave the glass a few good fist pounds as well. I love the passion.

Parise and Suter fit the identity of this team perfectly. Adding either one or both (highly unlikely) would be huge for the growth of the team into perennial contenders. Adding either one to this current core without losing any assets like we would in a trade is the best possible scenario.

Yeah, that would work. Sign Suter, then trade Staal and #1 for The Nailer.

Suter > Staal
Nail > Mitchell

Ference. Fined $2500 even though the gesture was unintentional. His "glove got caught."

So proud of this team. Boyle blocking that one with his face. Callahan's diving block and still throwing hits deep in OT. Mcdonagh taking that monster hit and staying in the game. Stralman's poise with the puck. Staal holding down the d while Girardi and McD were out. Lundqvist's clutch performance. So many highlights on the defensive end.

Definitely one of, if not the most rewarding wins I've experienced cheering for this club. Simply an awesome job as a team, win or lose, you have to proud of this effort!

Ference was fined 2.5k IIRC for sticking his finger after scoring a goal.

I don't know why on Gods green earth you would trade Staal. He has been one of our best Dmen during the playoffs.

Trade Girardi if you want to go after Suter.

Who saids McD can't switch? Especially when he has time to adjust to it. Staal has more upside than Girardi does.

You could switch McDonagh's side, but you're going to limit his defensive effectiveness with his stick which, aside from his skating, is his best asset. He could learn to be a first pair D, but he would never attain the upside that many of us think he has.

I'm not in favor of doing anything with this defense anyway. I love Ryan Suter. I've watched him regularly for 3 years and am a huge fan. He's not what this team will need going forward.

Only on HF is signing Parise/Suter and trading for Nail, of all things, being discussed after one of the most epic wins in recent years.

Haha gotta love it.

losing this kind of game is a real backbreaker, because it feels like you just lost 2 games.

WOW what a game, Gaborik gets a lot of flak because he's streaky but he came through with a big goal tonight. I thought McDonagh had a great game, kid is something special. And as always Hank came through with some tremendous saves.

But he might become better offensively, because being lefty on right side allows him better options for one timers and being more squared to the net for shots. Its a give and take. I also believe McD destiny isn't just a shutdown Dman but a dominant two way defender.

I agree with you about Suter. I don't think we need to spend that much when really the only major thing we need is a bomb from the point. Suter is more a puck mover than he is a shooter. Probably doesn't address what we really need. Granted, he is even better than Girardi defensively, but at prohibitive cost.

You can get a very good triggerman for 2nd pair money.

Hahahaha for the first time ever I decided to go read the Devils around the league thread. They're all so butt hurt, and everyone basically keeps saying "I'm praying we get to play the Rags in the ECF, they're just not that good." Even saw a "Lundqvist is overrated" post by that toolbag benedictgomez. Good God, I don't want the Isles to move, but I'd be laughing all the way to Kansas City if those swamp rats left New Jersey. What a bunch of tools.
