What is OKC's roster looking like for next year? Rieder and Pelss should be elligible as they are CHL imports, right? Gernat likely spends 2012-2013 with the Oil Kings. Marincin, Davidson, Fedun, Teubert and Blaine (if signed)...
Agreed. Pelss has a better skill set imo. Has the wheels, goes to the dirty areas and plays with an edge. His all round game is better than his numbers suggest and I really don't know why his numbers are not better than they are.
I like this signing and think the kid has a chance to make it.
Obviously throw in some FAs for forward depth and some guys on AHL deals. There will likely be a few trades made during the course of the offseason as well but this is what the overall depth chart is looking like at the moment.
Per AHL By-Laws, the age limit for eligibility to compete in the American Hockey League is 18 years or over, on or before September 15 of each season of competition.
(according to their website)
Tobias Rieder
Right Wing
Born Jan 10 1993 -- Landshut, Germany
Height 5.11 -- Weight 190 -- Shoots L

Rieder is an import, but he was drafted out of the CHL, where as Pelss was drafted out of Belerus then came to the CHL.
Players drafted out of the CHL need to be 20 years old or have played four years of junior, I believe.

Ahh. I see.
Thanks for the clarification. I guess another year in the OHL won't be the worst thing for him either. A year spent on a top line with Radek Faksa might even be a preview...Faksa is an interesting prospect. Big centre with some skill and having watched him in the OHL playoffs, he reminds me of Bobby Holik. A player to watch in mid-late 1st round.
If you have Helm's skillset with far less offence, that's not really an NHL player.
Well, that's not what was said. It was said he is a "Darren Helm clone". I don't know much about Pelss, but if he's a Darren Helm clone, that'd be enough for me to be happy about this contract. Darren Helm has a full time job on a pretty good Detroit team. Don't try and tell me he wouldn't make the Oilers.
Just wanna hear your opinion on this kid! My native! We have only one Latvian left in the NHL, and even he isn't a regular guest on the ice there - Daugavins. I wish Pelss was another one to join this league some day.
Found some vids on Youtube... as if it was hard to find it... hehe But i was really impressed. An unusual Latvian. Too nasty for one, but enough for NHL?
