When we started our series in Vancouver, we immediately had bandwagon fans...Nuck haters and a few smart fans who saw us play our way into the playoffs. That was April.
When we started our series in St. Louis, we got more fans, more Nuck haters but more fans who respect and love our team/run. Even Vancouver fans jumped on board. (Now that we are no longer fighting against each other for the same goal, we are brothers in long-suffering fandom. ) And now that we're on the verge of beating St. Louis badly, even the announcers, analysts and the rest of the big hockey fans are paying our team love and respect. This is May.
When June rolls around and we are still here...that is when the sports fans of Los Angeles will join in the bandwagon. They have the highest standards, they only support a winner, and they are used to winning. You will know the Kings are in the Stanley Cup when Lakers, Dodgers and Angels fans get on the wagon at last and your basketball/football/baseball fan co-worker bugs you about when the next game is.
That is Kings hockey in June.
When Jan Brady wins the vote for homecoming queen. You will feel like that guy in the commercial who is crying when his Chicago Cubs win the World Series in a video game. Like that. But in a real man's sport.
The Kings are poised to have a 1/4 chance to win the cup... Things are getting real. Don't know if my heart can take it >.< We've been waiting for this for so long...

"It has not been a good day. I lost my glasses early this morning and I had to go buy a pair of 79 dollar reading glasses today. 79 bucks. You can literally get them at Costco, three-for-20." - Darryl Sutter's response to going up 2-0 in the series.
The only thing holding back my excitement is that fact that the Kings have not really faced any adversity yet in the playoffs. I wanna see how they react to that. Even so, I feel much more confident that Sutter can lead them through problems.
I'd think that losing Game 4 vs the Canucks on home ice and then following up that performance with a huge OT win in Game 5 to finish the series, IN Vancouver can be definitely considered facing adversity. But I do see where you're coming from.

Close but at the moment still too many teams left. The bookies have Kings just slightly below Rangers at the moment with Devils trailing by a nice margin.
It's weird how just about everything Lombardi was preaching about and was saying he was trying to build have suddenly fallen into place during this season and postseason. The size, grit, and character, the players buying in, the locker room and leadership, the internally developed goaltending and key players taking the next step. It's pretty amazing to see.
I've never been this unsure of what I am witnessing before as a Kings fan. This is uncharted territory. The Kings are playing exceedingly well in the postseason. Every time I expect it to be a harder fought game, or that things are starting to slip, this team gets things right back on track and plays in a convincing fashion. Something this organization has never witnessed. It is like getting a small glimpse into what it is like to be a Red Wings fan or something...
And to think a lot of fans were skeptical that this team would even make the payoffs (myself included).
Skeptical is an understatement as far as I'm concerned. I thought the Detroit loss in March was the end. But the Kings won that shootout in Chicago and the rest is history.
This is the team we all envisioned at the beginning of the season.
We have been playing playoff hockey for the last two months, we can score goals, we are physically dominating the opposition and EVERYONE is contributing.
I am no longer nervous with one goal leads, and I have FULL confidence in sutters system...
Long way to go guys, but as a long time fan , this is great...
In game 4 on Sunday, I really dont expect the team to get going til midway through the 2nd period. Hopefully St.Louis will be the same. 12pm starts are just wrong!
Holy crap this is awesome. Absolutely loving the way the team is fighting to get it back when they give one up.
I keep checking the main board to see where the most arrogant Blues fan I noticed prior to the start of the series is, and shockingly, I haven't seen him around.
Man, I sure am glad McDonald and Pietrangelo haven't played in this series. The Kings might have been in real trouble.
Elliott is now ELLIOLT, soon to be ELLIOLL
Smelliot. My buddy's a Sens fan, I know this goatlender all too well. Smelliot.

I semi-threw in the towel that night as well. I couldn't believe it when things got that bad, and I can barely believe it now that things are going so perfectly.
ScoreZ, this has happened to me before. You know, reading game threads from other teams, just to see how pissed off they get when we're winning, but then you accidentally posted. Saw that post in the Sharks playoff thread. LOL.
