2012 World Hockey Championships

Sorry, mods, if you don't want this thread here. Is anyone staying up to watch the game in about five hours?

I'm so glad none of our guys are there this year and I don't have to pay any attention to it. Except for Fasth, if he's even there.

J Fasth has been cut.

From a Rangerfan perspective, the most interesting names to follow are probably Joey Crabb playing for the US (if we pretend that we just borrowed him to Toronto) and Jacob Petruzalek (who did we get from the canes again?)!

Edit 1:
Wait, hold the presses, is Juris Stals still our property? Could be useful if we ever want to create a Staal-Stals-Staal-Staal-Staal unit. ANd he is playing for the Latvians.

Edit 2:
Ivan Baranka is playing for the Slovaks.

(probably the least interesting WCH for a NYR fan ever)

One thing for sure, last year will not happen again.... Sweden is of course one of the big favorites to win the WC on home ice.

Anything less than a 5-0 victory for Sweden is unlikely.

Fasth probably would've made the team had Detroit or Ottawa made it to the next round. But no regrets about Ottawa obviously

yep. he's back. there was a story about it on the IIHF site.

i'm just a little upset with the fact that we've let France score 2. Howard's better than that. and we've only put up 4 on Huet thus far? come on, USA

they're coming together, these guys. hopefully they can keep it up and push for a Bronze or something.

Maybe I want to much, but one or two decent prospects in that tournament would not have hurt us...

wow USA has Canada tomorrow at 12? wow. and the fact that they're playing Chelsea Dagger when we score is making me see flashbacks of the Ranger game in Chicago this year... ugh

7 hours or so before game time, sweden only has 2 goalies and 15 forwards/defenders "written" into the official rosterbook (Is that even a word?)

Karlsson, Alfredson and Kruger (Chicago) has some sort of passport problem, so theire likely to be included before gamestart...

Rangers improved SWE by adding Karlsson and Alfi to it. Now its time to improve RUS squad by making Ovechkin and Semin to join Caps top prospect Kuznetsov as well as Malkin & Co (Burmistrov, Datsuk, Zherdev, etc.).

Let's keep the American team weak without Callahan, Stepan, Kreider, McDonagh,

Nedved on a line with Prucha vs Denmark. pretty cool stuff. on a non-USA, non-Ranger related note, is Slovakia really that good that Canada only won by 1 goal?

EDIT: i answered my own question. the answer? Zdeno Chara.

Looking at the rosters, Jarkko Immonen is playing.

What ever happened to him?
