You know what, even they lost, the Phillies bats woke up greatly, and I like that.

Agreed. Maybe Aumont should get a call up?

I wonder if when Lee comes off the DL Doc goes on retroactive. He was sweating real bad last night, like the game he had heat exhaustion in last year.

Only way to tell if Doc is really hurt is to stage a snake attack near CBP. If he comes to the rescue, we'll know he is ok. If not, then it's off to the DL.

Fiance just texted me saying Halladay has left the Phillies to deal with a family matter. I'm gonna see if I can find anything. Could explain being lost.

Found this:

http://www.csnphilly.com/baseball-ph...442&feedID=693

Doesn't say anything other than he did leave the team.

Anyone else see the call Tim Welke blew in the Dodgers-Rockies game? One of the worst calls I've ever seen.

Yeah, that was just...so very bad.

And it's not like it was even close.

Yeah. Welke's position on the play was a bit strange. Helton is almost squarely between him and the bag--there's no way he can see whether Helton made the stretch (with some sort of superhuman extendable leg).

Still, it was pretty bad.

Looks like the bats are staying awake, and Joe's having himself a game! (not on the bases though)

Joe "Roy Halladay" Blanton was on fire today. Not like yesterday when Roy "Joe Blanton" Halladay was off.

didnt see the game but I am pleasantly surprised. Thought they could win but not a 3 hit shutout by Blanton.

Last season I was listening in to one of the games on the radio, and someone said "do you see how much red is here? Nats fans have really packed the place!"

Im pretty sure no major league ump has been fired in like 18 years. so they can continue with these horrendous calls.

Phillies get screwed out of a run twice basically, and Nationals fans boo correct calls.

EDIT: Getting screwed out of the run costs them the game. Never thought I'd see a game lost due to an ump getting sick, and having to go home.

I haven't been around this thread for quite a while so I haven't any idea on what has been discussed... Has there been any talk on how the Sabre-metrics belief that a player should be compared to what a player placed into the position can do. I believe the thought was that Ryan Howard was not doing better than a replacement player would do. In the light of Howard's being on IR and the replacement(s) not meeting Ryan's below average 2011 performance rate so far, is there any update on the thinking here? Even with the supporting players being sub-par... with Utley out also and other players in slumps or replaced... one would think that their replacements would be able to be plugged into their slots.

Do people here believe that Howard's absence may be hurting the offense more than would be thought based on Howard's low Sabre-metric's replacement stats... or whatever it is called?

I believe you're thinking about WAR (wins above replacement). Honestly I don't think it has anything to do with Howard or Chase being out. Although having them in the lineup certainly would help. I think everyone just needs to start hitting instead of trying to do so much.
