Not really surprised by this result. We couldn't generate enough quality scoring chances (like last game) despite the zone time and didn't get many bounces. Phoenix is just too good defensively and we're not creative enough to overcome that. I'm not saying its over yet, but we're in a tough spot.
I'm sure I'll get railed by the company of Yip-haters, but I thought he had a pretty solid game.
Wilson needs to get shots off quicker.
yip had a real solid game for what he is... a waived forward from colorado that can fill in on a fourth line with limited minutes. not first unit PP minutes... let alone all the depth we have that should (easily) push him to the scratch list.
would have liked to see smith with spaling and wilson instead of brandon "coach loves me lots" yip LOL
After multiple rewinds ... O'Halloran did blow the play dead before the puck went in. Terrible call, but, unreviewable. He whistles it dead a full two seconds before waiving his arms and long before he crosses the goal line. Blown call.
We didn't lose based on a blown call. We lost because we failed to bury the puck on numerous chances ... we passed up shot opportunities to pass ... we got beaten by a team that played a better defensive game than we did. It sucks. I'm pissed. It wasn't the damned refs.
Nobody knows whether Rads or AK would have scored on Smith either.
True, no way of knowing for sure how the game would have panned out with either Rads or AK in the lineup tonight.

What is this "either" talk? AK46 has 2 goals against Smith scored in 33m 15s of ice time through 2 games. Can't say for sure if he'd have scored had he been included in the last two games, but with his contributions in this series so far and a history of producing against the Yotes, I would have liked his chances.
We didn't have the talent to finish. We needed the skill to do that but we didn't have it on the ice. Unlikely to win the series now but we'll see if Trotz can make the right changes. Trotz was the short-sided one this time around.
Poor game, poor decision.
Whoever was laughing about the comment "Nashville has no offense on ice without 46+47" maybe will think twice if he should be laughing.
Make it so simple for Tippet, cover the points and protect the net. Poor Weber can't even shoot. All others can't push the puck in with Smith legally. Peks didn't bail the team this time.
So far no real 5-5 goals. If that's not Smith's mistake behind net, crazy bounce or goalie's stick redirect noone can put the puck to the net.
Weather is Rads or AK (still looking to find pics to see what they did) or someone else to win the Cup you need skill and hard-work. Nashville lucking offensive skill w/o this 2. Weather you like it or not
And it is not just about scoring or not. It is about varieties of offense. You have to keep your eyes on playmakers and shooters everywhere while grinders usually get their goals from rebounds or outworking defenders. 2 options that Nashville had (point-shot and grinder style) easier to defend than "you don't know where it coming from"
couldnt be more pissed at dan holleran. maybe if he could grow a few inches he couldve seen the puck... such a terrible call. seriously **** him. worst ref.
This too. That was a ridiculously awful call and they need to change that rule. If the ref blows the whistle right before the puck goes in or even worse starts making the motion to blow the whistle as the puck is going in because he can't see where the puck is that needs to be reviewed every single time. That was never covered and clearly a goal and could have cost the Preds the game and the series.
Guys on 102.5 are making my point right now. We didn't have the finishing touch that AK or Rads could have provided. This was such a shortsightedness by Trotz.
Hornqvist had numerous chances that were as good or better than AK's goal in game 1, and missed the net. Fisher missed the net repeatedly. Weber missed the net more than he hit it. SK had his one shot blocked before it got on goal. There's why we lost ... not the call ... not the absence of AK or Radulov. Failure of our guys to get the puck on net when needed. Not like Radulov has found the net this series to begin with ... 1 SOG in two games.

Agreed, the worst part is mike smith never had control of the puck, let alone covered, it was just loose in the crease and eventually crossed the goal line. That blown call definitely decided the game, although it wasn't the only reason we lost but its still a massive factor.
Radulov controlled the play more than any other player in game 1 vs Phoenix. He's still leading our team in playoff scoring; he has the highest goals per playoff game of any Predator in our history. The reason we lost game 1 was because Pekka was only OK and defensive lapses.

The point is why do you tell the other team who we're going to play? Does Tootoo have more scoring talent than AK or Rads? They would have generated more attention than most of the other forwards on ice. Attention means resources. Skill equals more creativity from your forwards. Creative plays are harder to figure out.
Again, it comes down to Trotz declaring his hand to the whole world. You don't tell everyone who you're playing.

I'm not going to say it definitely decided the game because as 101st said they had a bunch of missed shots, posts etc. but it did cost them the oppurtunity to possibly win the game. Maybe Phoenix scores a minute later and they win 2-1. Maybe the Preds ride that momentum and score a minute later and win 2-1. Maybe Phoenix regroups and wins in overtime. Maybe the Preds win in overtime. Who knows? Point being it was a blown call by the refs and that shouldn't happen, especially in the playoffs and especially when there's technology to reverse a bad call.

Whine, whine, whine ... yet no fortitude to say who should have been out so your boys could play.
Radulov, 1 SOG in two games. That equals Yip's GOALS. AK with a break in goal and a tip in on a goal scramble ... or the same place numerous players failed tonight, and AK has failed in other games.
Complaining is easy ... having a solution is hard.
If Rads and AK were in, it would be a higher scoring game but we would still probably lose because we would have given up 5 goals on our end. The lineup we have tonight plays better defense but isn't as skilled to score/has difficulty scoring compared to when Rads/Ak are in. When Rads/AK are in we have better chances at scoring but our defense is lacking.
I expect Rads/AK will probably be in for the next game but I'm hoping them being out for two games will motivate them to play great/better on both ends of the ice and play better defensively. Maybe then we will actually win some games.
