I'm sorry but I've just lost so much hope in this team when it comes to staying healthy. Granlund's smaller size combined with the Wild's ability to suffer concussions just makes me feel really uneasy. I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up too high for this kid. I can't wait to see him play next season, but if he isn't the beast many of us think he will be, I don't want to be devastated.

You gotta think at some point, maybe we don't have the best medical staff.

Yeah, because it's the medical staff's fault when a player is hit in the head illegally.

Or when a player loses control of his ATV.

Modern sports training focuses on mobility and unilateral exercises to prevent joint and muscle injuries. Concussions have nothing to do with training and not all injuries are preventable, but if you're getting a lot of knee, shoulder, hip, groin, hamstring, etc injuries it's worth looking at the trainers.

I believe they went back to Kirk Olson this past year and from looking at his program he is a solid trainer. Chris P-W is actually a friend of my uncle but I'm not as sold on him compared to Kirk who has a lot more experience and runs his own training facility. Remember how guys kept coming into camp out of shape and then getting injured all year long.

The medical staff are just there to treat injuries, not to prevent them. Good fitness and strength trainers can help prevent them. Ounce of prevention, etc.

Ah but if he didn't mean it as an anti-jinx, and actually believes it, then perhaps THAT is the most powerful anti-jinx, no?

Perhaps...but then we need to explain SoH, and I don't think that fits into the theory.

I wasn't basing it on concussions. Obviously you can't help that or the illegal hits. I'm just saying, with all of the games missed from smaller injuries, there may be something wrong considering other teams don't have as many of them.

Its just my tin foil, conspiracy theory of our medical team and our glass players. Like Gaborik sitting in the training room with his personal masseuse, then Demitra shows up with the same injury.

Again, just throwing ideas out there.

What minor injuries that other teams don't have?

Lundin's back problems (from before he was with the Wild)? Clutterbuck's minor knee injuries (from knee on knee hits)? The odd broken (or just bruised) extremity from blocking shots? The only reason we didn't set any league records for injuries this season is that we didn't have much for minor bump and scrape type injuries like you describe. We had a bevy of concussions, and Koivu missed time with his often hurt shoulder. Beyond that, what did we have for injuries?

Also, if you count Palmer (our most skilled forward from Houston) missing the entire season with a concussion, we did indeed lead the league in man games lost to injury.

Just sayin'... you wouldn't have Johnson in the top six if Palmer was available.

Yeah, I don't think you can blame the medical/training staff for the concussions, except possibly if they rush players back/allow players to rush back and they suffer setbacks/recurring symptoms. All the Wild can really hope to do is prevent illegal hits in the first place. That means heavily lobbying Shanny and co. and making sure they get an earful when they ignore headshots. That means going to the BoG meetings and demanding less farcical discipline. And that might even mean putting out Kassian at appropriate times and letting him bash the **** out of anyone who even looks at Bouchard funny.

Mikael Granlund looked good tonight against KHL-stars of Belarus. He's a traitor still but his movement and passing was the same that it was a year ago. He seems to be over his bad period.

Goal for Finland was a shot by Niskala and the assitants were Granlund and Koivu.

Watching him and Mikko together again has removed my contract angst completely. I just can't imagine him being the kind of ****** who'd go rogue on his Kapitan at this point.

Insert Koivu-Granlund maternal pic here.

Well given their apparent chemistry together, could we perhaps see both of them playing on the 1st line together next season? I personally would rather have Granlund centering the 2nd line because no one else is good enough to do so. Plus having Granlund start on the wing probably knocks Heater down to 2nd line duty.
