Unbelievable. NBC homer Keith Jones just said Ovie was trying to defend himself when he jumped / left his feet to hit Girardi with an elbow to the head.

Agreed. I'd say one or two playoff games is about right.

He made a play for the puck, but wasn't able to corral it. Then he realized he was gonna hit Girardi, and instead of bracing himself, he popped up. I don't think he was targeting Girardi's head (like Torres did), he just happened to hit it because he popped up.

1 or 2 would be right.

Hard for the refs to call it on the ice. Will be interesting what shanny does.

There wont be a fine. Either suspension or nothing because of the repeat offender thingie

i often jump and thrust my shoulder/elbow area towards a player's head to protect myself. not at all to harm him.

Certainly looked like something, because 99.9% of NHL players won't go down like Anisimov did on a play like that unless they were elbowed and/or hit high.

Did anyone just hear Keith Jones say that Ovechkin left his feet to protect himself???

I hope he falls off the face of this earth.

So according to hfboards, its alright to leave your feet and jump a foot when going for a hit. Good to know.

This period can make or break the series. The rangers can absolutely put the ****in dagger into this piece of **** bandwagon organization by scoring a few in the 3rd and winning this game decisively. Do it now. Bring it back to MSG up 3-1.

Make their garbage fanbase suffer and cry. Take it to them hard. No mercy. Let's do this.

Larry Brooks ‏ @NYP_Brooksie

Ovechkin: a) leaves feet to deliver blow; b) hits Girardi in head; c) is repeat offender. Your move, Dep't of Player Safety.

If the rangers win and Ovechkin gets suspended for game 5 I would be so happy. Then again Ovechkin is a super star so he'll get a slap on the wrist.

WHAT!!!

Ovechkin still could have played the puck, instead he made a bee-line charge at Girardi and jumped to follow through on a hit.

Jesus Christmas Jones.

Boudreau saying that Ovechkin's jump from the ice can be justified by the fact it was a 'defensive' hit.

This is what we are up against these days. Complete BS. Kids watch hockey and are told by a-hole talking heads on television that it is OK.
