He did take a dumb penalty today, it should be noted. And i'm glad tex pointed out the stats because just with the eyeball-test, I don't see it. I don't really understand his game.
But the stats do suggest effectiveness, plus he's a very nice guy, plus his Boston goal is now in the pantheon of all-time best franchise moments.
I also like his camaraderie w/ 22. I saw the two of them laughing about something at start of overtime wed nite. Knuble said something that made 42 laugh. I'd love to know what he said.
Any fans whose team got a 2-0 PP advantage in OT of a playoff game on the road have no room to complain about officiating.
let them complain about the reffin'. it washes away the fact that mike green clean beat their best goalie in the league with an open look slap shot. two goals in that game were shots that should have been stopped.
their king let them down. its easier to blame the referees and the league. in what world does the nhl prefer the capitals in the scf's than the NEW YORK rangers?
something about playoff hockey plays into ward's game. i dont think its so much that he raises his game so much as the game in general comes more to his skill set.
it would seem that mcphee's off season gets are delivering at playoff time.
ward 4th in scoring
hamrlik leader in +/- and points from the d
brouwer physical play and cup winning experience.
ok....there's vokoun....that was a bust
so, while we are lining up for our turn to kick him in the a$$, lets keep our eyes open.
His tweaks have always been fantastic...from Bellows and Tik through Fedorov, Huet, and now Ward and Brouwer. No one can dispute that.
Lol Rags fans are such little beeeeotches... Callahan was not tripped. Semin pushed down on his stick, Callahan went to 1 knee, and then lunged forward and fell.
Also, they fail to mention the fact the refs missed the most obvious call in the game (Hendricks getting high-sticked) and that they never score that 2nd goal if there wasn't confusion on the icing (Back red saying icing, front ref waiving it off late) as Holtby would've played it.
The bottom line is the Caps were and are the better team. Lundqvist made at least 5 great saves today. Holtby made none. Same goes for game 3. The Rags scored on their only good chances the last 2 game. The Caps have probably scored on about 15% of theirs.
Caps will win the next 2 and take it in 6. They are a much better team as shown in every game except maybe game 2. Lets ****ing go Caps! Caps in 6!
yep that was a dive/embellishment and nobody in the booth dared to question supper captains antics, i can only imagine if Semin or Ovechkin would've done the same... Thank you MG for sticking it to them!

Officiating was "sketchy" in both directions today. Knuble batted that puck out with his glove, should have been a penalty. Likewise, the missed high stick that should have sent the Rags to the box. There was also an obvious missed icing near the end. They were pretty accurate with the offsides, I'll given them that.
Nicky got a game for a crosscheck i didn't think was worse than what Weber did in round 1. Anything could happen.
Well yeah, the Weber baseline was more of a tongue in cheek reference. Personally I'm still in shock that grabbing a players head and slamming it into the glass does not warrant a suspension but a wild but accidental crosscheck to the face earns Nick a game. Still I'm worried about what will happen to Ovechkin.
Can't decide who's more despondent over the Capitals win today, Ranger fans or the NBC broadcast crew. Geesh, can Doc, Pierre and Eddie be a little less bias please.

He meant to cross check him but he didn't go for the head, rather the target was the chest. Peverley blocked it then pushed it up resulting in the head shot. You're entitled to your opinion and I have provided my explanation so lets leave it at that.
granted i havent paid too much attention to the kings games but backstroms gotta be up there for smythe at this point. shame his points dont reflect his play.
