Fitting that the scoring for the final series clinching goal was Brown from Kopitar and Greene.

C, A & A.

Go Kings Go.
Welcome! Im sure The Great One would be ok knowing he was sold for you to go to two amazing games.

In fact players seemed to be very respectful of each other in general.
Their game plan focused on Kopitar more than any other player. He is so powerful, he took a pounding in this series and even some "keen observers" didn't bother noticing.

Couple wrap-ups from the LA Daily News and some jerk who wrote them:

Recap:

Had long talks with Hitchcock and Lombardi during the series. Easily the two most insightful perspectives on the series. If anyone cares, PM me and I'll send you the on-the-record Lombardi scrum where he talks about the win, developing players, etc. Maybe three of us in the scrum, about 10 minutes long.

As a long suffering Kings fan, it truly is hard to fathom that I'd see the day where the Kings were decisively winning playoff games to reach the Conference Finals. I hope that this ride continues on and doesn't end until the Kings are raising a banner that makes us all proud.

This is a team playing with confidence, as individuals and as a team, and Darryl Sutter is the man who has instilled this new found and necessary identity that the team was lacking under Terry Murray. Now they get some much needed and deserved rest and focus onto the next task at hand.

Probably the best all-around video I've found online given that no one is screaming directly in to the phone mic. You can just enjoy the atmosphere.

I can definitely say this is a lowered-volume version. There are plenty of other fan vids on YouTube that are at unfiltered volume if you want your ears to bleed.

And here's a vid of the Kings celebrating on the ice. Handshake line as well. http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/con...ed-share-video

i hate to get emo, but watching Brown score that empty net goal makes my eyes tear up. it's like 24 years of emotional investment paid back with interest in one moment. the kids are alright after all. when has the weather ever been fair for the Kings? Today my long-suffering friends... today

I didn't cry but I got froggy throat-ed rofl.

Had to knock down a few shots of Grey Goose and a few Cigarettes to wash the froggys out

Loved Mur but yeah he lost the team. In a way the team was a victim of his being a good man, a good friend and well-liked guy in the organization and press. Most likely they would have done well to can him at the All-Star break last year, though I understand why they did not and with Kopitar's injury it would not have mattered. I miss him personally, was easier to work with and he did not need an interpreter. But as far as the team goes? BIG improvement.

The interview only consisted of half a question.

Seriously though the shortest DL interview ever was some schmuckles from Edmonton harassing him about the Smyth deal at the draft, he got a little emo as he would have much preferred to talk about the Richards trade (the Kings had not made any picks yet).

I loved seeing Leiweke high-fiving all the guys on Kings Live. Good to see Phil at the game too. I know he doesn't like the spotlight at all, so it's cool that he was there.

No bro, this of all times is the one time us men can go emo...this and the end of tragic war buddy movies or karate/taekwondo movies.

Just some perspective going into round 3. Bob and Jim mentioned that only three four other teams have ever gone 8-1 in the first two rounds. In those three four times, every outcome has happened (Loss in Rd 3, Loss in Rd 4 and Win in Rd4):

1994 (1) NY Rangers
Round 1: Beat (3) NY Islanders 4-0
Round 2: Beat (7) Washington 4-1
Round 3: Beat (3) New Jersey 4-3
Round 4: Beat (7) Vancouver 4-3 to win Stanley Cup

1998 (6) Buffalo Sabres
Round 1: Beat (3) Philadelphia 4-1
Round 2: Beat (7) Montreal 4-0
Round 3: Lost to (4) Washington 4-2
Round 4: n/a

2004 (1) Tampa Bay Lightning
Round 1: Beat (8) NY Islanders 4-1
Round 2: Beat (7) Montreal 4-0
Round 3: Beat (3) Philadelphia 4-3
Round 4: Beat (6) Calgary 4-3 to win Stanley Cup

2008 (2) Pittsburgh Penguins
Round 1: Beat (7) Ottawa 4-0
Round 2: Beat (5) NY Rangers 4-1
Round 3: Beat (6) Philadelphia 4-1
Round 4: Lost to (1) Detroit 4-2 in Finals

* Thanks to tailgunner for pointing out that the Rangers also did it in 1994, which maybe I missed when Bob and Jim were talking about it

It's cool man, I'm not ashamed to say I had actual tears rolling down my face today for the first time since my daughter was born. I continue to be at a loss for words as to what we are witnessing.

i love how you ask, "who was the best player in the series for the Kings" and you get 3 different answers. Quick, Brown, Doughty. Take your pick.

How crazy is it to not even mention Richards or Kopitar with their heroics?

I moved from LA to MS and there is NO hockey out here. I'm watching Heyworthless on TV talking up the Blues.. Hope the crow tastes good to him as he interviews the Kings after they swept the Blues. I miss Bob Miller and Jim Fox, It's not the same without hearing the calls from Bob and Jim on PT or FSW or whatever its called now. Anyone have video highlight's of their calls on game 4? Posting them would be awesome!

Great to finally be able to lose my voice over hockey game's from my own couch. I'm with you all in spirit!!! GKG!!

Bob and Jim aren't allowed to call the games after the first round ended. The only time we see them is a brief Kings Live show after the game and that's on a different channel.

Definately a Conn Smyth Candiate if he continues like this, simply impressive.

It's like he is made for playoff hockey.
