Actually Berglund can make Stålberg better. Think Pääjärvi (Stålberg) - Berglund - Thörnberg (Krüger) like in the last Worlds.

PS. I miss Thörnberg, Mårtensson, Jimmie Ericsson etc. And Söderberg. Career seasons

Too bad you can't revoke the registration of injured players.
I'd rather not include Steen then. Waiting for Bäckström is a gamble, but really worth it imo. Then again Lundqvist is the one I really want...

My wishlist for skaters is:
1) Backstrom - the best and most skilled centre by a margin imo. His presence would raise the 2nd line and give our team a really dangerous (and hopefully effective) 1-2 punch from 1st and 2nd lines.
2) Berglund - always raises his game for the national team. His points total is not so impressive but his physical presence and leadership are without question. Also he's allowed more space in the national team (remember that in STL the top scorers are 50 pointers, not 65+ which is more of the norm for other teams...).
3) M.Johansson - one of the most underestimated Swedes in the news today. He's on the first line in WSH and is playing really good using his speed and skill. He does PK, PP, has a high shooting percent and is very disciplined player with few misstakes.
4) Steen - great player and if we'd be having this conversation at about Christmas time this year I'd put him ahead of M.Johansson but I think it'll take him a bit longer to reach his earlier level of play.
5) Hornqvist - buh, I haven't watched him play this year so I can't really make any substantial arguments here...

In fact, I've actually wished that Backstrom had had a reliable linemate like the Sedins have.

In spite of this, Backstrom was either #7 or 8 place in NHL scoring at the time of his concussion. I didn't see anyone else in the top 15 who managed that without the help of a linemate also near the top. Ovechkin was only about #50 at the time Backstrom was injured. In fact, Backstrom was so far ahead in points that it took Ovechkin more than a month (16 games, I think) to catch up.

After watching the last two seasons, I believe that the two are moving in opposite directions. Ovechkin has been steadily regressing, while Backstrom is improving and has become the Capitals' most important player.
You have certainly watched more capital games this season than I have done (although I saw them live at home against Sharks last season), that is true. And I take your word on it that Bäckström might have been as good as you say. But stating that Bäckström is held back from winning trophies by his line is kind of a a bold thing don't you agree. Certainly when it is proved that the Sedins do not need each other to perform, in fact we have seen them both elevate when they play without the other.

do they? they have brodin and still Ekholm available as replacement in case of further injury.

Anyway, the rule that you can't replace injured players is retarded. Anyone knows WHY it was implemented (i think it was a couple of yrs ago) and WHO decided for it?

Ekholm is not registered yet and not counted against the quota. Brodin is already playing. Without Ericsson we only have six registered D's. With him we're fine.

I'm pretty sure that the 25 man rosters are for just that, injury replacements first and foremost. 4 skater replacements and 1 goalie replacement seems fair.

Just invite Berglund and go from there. That leaves them one spot to another D later on if Ericsson can't play.

Lets get Bäckström then. Hopefully they skip Hörnqvist, never been a fan of him.

Seriously though, we have enough players to not need them, and playing for Sweden outside of Olympics should be rewarded in my opinion(not to the extent of taking ****** SEL players over NHL players).

You gotta pay your dues if you want to play later. Bye bye, Berglund. Steen got a concussion though, I can understand him more.

I belive Henrik Sedin and Patrik Berglund will be invited to the Olympics though. unfortunately. But they'll never have my respect.

How are those who decline entitled? If they demand to play on the national team ok, but they haven't.

We will field the strongest possible team in any tournament (of course why do I have to write it out), enough of this nonsense already.

Funny thing is, Boork would probably go with that.
