^^ Doesn't look like a contender but foreign player positions are still available.

Interesting that headcoach Kivi told these while the players are still playing in the playoffs. Not really digging it even though everybody pretty much knew these signings were going to happen anyway.

So Pihlman has been a force and put up huge numbers except for the last 2 seasons...what's the deal with that? I thought with Jokerit he might just not be getting big minutes but 14 points in 44 games with JyP this last season? Hopefully he will be a great addition for Assat.

Really excited about Marttinen. At least Assat will have a solid top 2 with him and Uusitalo, hopefully Sammalkangas, Malkamaki, Honkanen, and Taimi will be able to be a solid enough d-core. It's hard for me to keep track of how individual players play in the SML besides looking at stats, so it's hard to tell if some defensemen had good years or just ok years.

As for the forwards, it looks like Assat will at least have a solid top 2 lines...it seems like they could really use another offensively talented winger, or hopefully some young guys like Juusela can step up. I also think it's time for Silllanpaa to step up and have a big year, and I'm praying Niemi will get his game back and play the way he did with Luomala and Kivenmaki.

His knee was injured in January 2010, and it needed surgery. The operated knee got an infetion that took something like a couple of months to heal. After that he still returned during the playoffs, but I cannot recall how he was doing back then. I think it was later suspected that the knee might not have been properly healed back then. Anyway during the Jokerit time he was quite a dissapoinment to them due to his poor mobility, and I think he was mostly in a bottom six role, if playing at all. The same applies to this season with JYP too. I haven't been following either of the teams very closely, so some Jokerit/JYP fan can probably tell more details and correct if I had something wrong.

Hmm that's too bad. Hopefully it's not an injury that will permanently affect his game, because if he plays at his full ability it seems like he's one of the best forwards in the SML.

I haven't actually never seen him play, but based on his numbers with U20 & SaPKo, I'd take him gladly to Sport.

Michael Ryan (Rochester Americans, AHL) -> Ässät
Daniel Brodin (Djurgården, SWE) - > Ässät

Very interesting pick-ups.

Michael Ryan with very solid numbers when healthy, but has had concussion problems. Good on the skates, very skilled and can play both wing and center. Not physical, but defensively responsible.

Brodin a speedy winger that goes to the net and keeps it simple. Also has a physical edge and shoots from the right.

Could use one more solid depth defenceman, but we will see later what happens. Situation seems crazy good for Ässät in MAY compare to past years.

RW Steve Moses
Univ. of New Hampshire (NCAA) --> Jokerit

http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=38086

He practised with Jokerit last summer so the club knows who they signed and Moses is familiar with the club and city already.
