Summary on the hit: nothing to see here. Indeed, some of the angles on it show that it was really just Ovechkin "playing large". I know rangers fans will squawk about this til the cows come home, but...
For a trapper it sure seems like we have opened up the offense over the past 2 games. While we did hunker down with a lead, I think the shot totals do reflect opening up some. Dmen have been a bit more aggressive.
While our breakout and neutral zone play leave a lot to be desired, imagine how many more chances we would get if that was sorted proper. Maybe next year.
I am still miffed about the Wides Sarge gaffe. That was the classic old unaggressive Sarge I didnt like. Refusing to ever be the Dman that gets a loose puck. He doesn't even start to move, he just looks across at the RD and stands there. Wides who had jumped in the air at the blue was stunned. Forced to finally go get it, does a series of S turns??? - lollygagging to the puck. Mind boggling. He has regressed into his old habits and needs a scratch. I prefer Erskine full hustle 3 BS vs Sarge 9 no hustle.
Would love to see a 24/7 series of this Capitals team just to see how Hunter is in the locker room with these guys.
Stu Bickel gets a little over 3 minutes in a game that went 100+ minutes, yet he still gets a sweater for the next game, shows you the value of Steve Eminger (what a great trade that was with Philly).
Yeah Ty i did see the coaches pressers. Sarge racked up a bunch in a short time, maybe PK'ing. I hadn't noticed either, to be honest. I had presumed coaches look at stat sheets during INT or I would like them to at least. To scope out faceoff matchups if nothing else.
Torts lol - just ask the question! It sure seems the media respects Torts and lay off after losses. Foot on the neck Katie!
I have seen Semin. Anytime the puck is coming off his stick, I almost expect him to score.
I'm not sure how anyone can give Semin grief after his game yesterday unless they were only looking at the scoresheet. Even the normally hapless commentators were saying that it was only a matter of time until he scored.
Have to admit, I felt bad for Sarge on the 2nd Rangers goal...I thought that was all on Wideman , yet Wides is the one staring Sarge down and then slamming his stick on the crossbar.
Anyone seem Semin lately? Has he been a healthy scratch?
I have seen a lot of Sasha. Both he and Nicky are fabulous on the back check. Constantly stealing the puck from Rags players. Sure that has led to Sasha taking a bad penalty or two, but I'll live with that so long as he keeps pestering puck carriers like he does.
As for him not scoring, it seems like he is at the cusp of lighting it up. I just wish he would focus more on getting shots on net instead of trying to pick spots. He has such a quick/fast shot if he just tries to get it on net more good things will happen. Easy for me to say though.

That pairing leaves much to be desired to be sure. But Wideman is the vet/experienced player and whatever happens on that pairs watch falls on Wideman, IMO. Really can't see him back in a Caps uniform next season.

Getting ahead of ourselves, but still Wideman can't be gone quick enough. Orlov will replace him, however the bigger question will be who Orlov's partner should be. Tyutin makes the most sense.

Tyutin makes more sense as Green's partner, if he's acquired. Hamrlik is the guy that should be Orlov's partner. That way he doesn't have to skate 20+ minutes in the regular season.
Semin is getting close. Every one on the caps know lundy had a slow glove and to aim high so sasha has been missing the net alot trying to snipe that high corner. Dont worry only a matter of time before he hits his spot and trust me lundy is scared because only a few players in the league can release his shot as fast as semin and put it in the 1% of the net where no goalie can stop it.

I have my doubts that Wideman was brought in solely because of Mike Green's injury last year. I think it had more to do with Tom Poti's injury coupled with Green's injury. If Poti had been healthy, even though GMGM got Wideman at a relatively good price, I'm not sure they would have acquired him.

I wish we had a healthy Poti over Wideman. This series would probably be over in 4 for us then.
I agree there's a lot of times to ***** about Semin, the last couple games isn't one of them though. Rangers fans couldn't possibly be a bigger collective group of insecure babies seriously they make Pens fans look relatively normal
except pens fans expect to win. win it all. rangers fans expect to lose and figure to get hosed somewhere in the process. i mean....since 1940 they have 1994 and thats it. the pain to pleasure ratio is pretty tall on the pain side
