And it would be a way to repair the mistake that Gainey made by hiring Martin instead of him. I'm all for Lemaire...but not holding my breath.

Gotta agree. Getting Lemaire would go a long way to bringing back credibility to this franchise.

By all accounts, its Lemaire who didn't want to come here.

It's been said many many times that he doesn't want to come back here, and Tremblay had mentioned so on l'AC on occasions.

You should write that letter I suggested

Lemaire was FINALLY willing to come that Summer when Martin was hired. He was mentally prepared for the media circus.

Now, the guy is almost 70 !!!

And if you did not like the way the Devils were playing before, you won't like the way the Habs would play under his coaching.

Please show us a quote, because that's not the prevailing belief.

I'm all for Lemaire coming here, and he was in the rumors at that time (may-june 09), but like I said before, I clearly remember Mario Tremblay saying Lemaire wouldn't take the job. If someone should know, it's him.

So yeah provide something at least, an account of a media source. I'm pretty sure someone could coroborate what I heard on l'AC.

I'm with you on this one. After enduring 2 and a half years of Jacques Martin Hockey, I'm ready for a more offensive and entertaining product on the ice. No doubt he would be a respected coach, but thats not the style that I want to see us play.

If you just want to WIN... ? That's fine.

If you want entertaining hockey on top of that... ? Well....

Lemaire, notorious father of boring Devils-trap hockey.

Why can't we have both? At the end of the day, this is supposed to be entertaining. Don't know if I want to see us defending 1 goal leads for 2 periods again.

yes we can... But not with Lemaire behind the bench.

Quenneville, Vigneault, Hartley, Roy, Therrien can "try" to provide that.

Indeed, but look around. The NHL is heading back in that direction whether we like it or not. Better to be ahead of the curve than behind it.

I would like to see Lemaire. Whether we like it or not, he's a good coach. And as Overlords said, whether we like it or not (and I don't) that is the way the league is trending. If we can be as ahead of the trend as we can get at this point, good.

Was anyone listening to Melnick in the last hour? He mentioned a phone conversation that Rod had with either Crawford or Quenneville that was entirely in French. Which coach were they talking about?

The fact of the matter is that unless either Quenville or Babcock or V get permission to speak to the habs, none of these names are in play. I would be very happy with any of those names (some more than others), but there is no reason to get your hopes up since as of right now they all still under contract.
