Vancouver Millionaires

Unsure of where to put this.

But does anyone know what the deal is with those slick looking Vancouver Millionaires jersey's I sometimes see in the crowd at Canucks games. I'm assuming it was a throwback for either a WHL or AHL team, but it would seem that the Canucks own the rights?

Anyways does anyone know where these are available online? I love them

They've won the SC in 1915. I think you should ask about them on the Hockey History Boards.

Well I'm more interested in what team wore those jerseys and where to find them/who owns the rights.

It's weird that RiverCitySports has the Montréal Maroons and Wanderers but not the Millionaires... I agree-- very snazzy jerseys.

Maybe go over to the canucks board? I'd guess that's closer to the source, so to speak.

It used to be a 3rd party company at www.vancouvermillionaires.com, but youll notice now that it just redirects to the vancouver canucks site.

Prior to about a year ago, you could buy jerseys, sweaters, t shirts etc from this site. They all had that classic maroon V, looked great, I picked up a sweater. Recently the vancouver canucks has purchased the rights to this logo, so that 3rd party company was shut down (or bought out). I believe the reason they did this is because the canucks are planning on selling these jerseys or items with this logo in the near future

In any case, you used to be able to get that stuff but now you cant. But you might be able to again soon

The Canucks bought the rights to the Millionaires logo and merchandising a couple of years ago. Millionaires jerseys can be bought at the Canucks retail stores.

IIRC there's a shop downtown Vancouver that sells a bunch of old-fashioned NHL stuff.

I know I've seen them around at the team stores here. Saw one at Metrotown just the other day, but I gather you're not in town. Just looked online...not so much. Might be worth an email to Canucks.com.

The Vancouver Millionaires (later known as the Vancouver Maroons) were a professional ice hockey team that competed in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association and the Western Canada Hockey League between 1911 and 1926.
Quote:
Upon the 1914-1915 season, the NHA and PCHA came to an agreement that each league's respective champion would play for the Stanley Cup; in the first year of this agreement, the Millionaires — led by Patrick and Taylor — emerged as league champion and defeated the Ottawa Senators to earn their first and only Stanley Cup championship. In a best-of-five series played at Denman Arena, the Millionaires swept Ottawa by scores of 6-2, 8-3, and 12-3; Taylor led the team with 6 goals. At the time, it was the furthest west the Cup had been awarded and is Vancouver's only Stanley Cup champion.
Quote:
On October 1, 2010, the Vancouver Canucks president and management officially announced that the Vancouver Canucks had purchased the rights to logos, jerseys and trademarks of the Vancouver Millionaires.

You can buy them on Canucks.com and I believe they will ship anywhere.

This is all correct.

When news broke the Canucks were buying the Millionaires rights, I immediately went to that site, and everything was being sold off cheap - got a maroon Millionaires jersey for $50.
Methinks the Canucks are going to do something big in 2015, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Cup being won in Vancouver.

New Canucks 3rd Jerseys

So it seems the Canucks will be doing something to honour the 100 year of hockey on the West Coast by implementing new third jersey's next year. It seems that they will be wearing this jersey at one game this season as a "teaser". Personally, I love the look of these jersey. What are you opinions...do you like the retro look?

I'm buying one as soon as they are released.
Love them so much.

An article on the Canucks website says that they could be worn against the Red Wings on March 16th.
Both teams would look fantastic in their old jerseys.
