Start Tom and release him on everybody. Including his brother.

Devils fan, and I total agree. As a single incident, this suspension is good.
Overall, it is horrible, and not just in the Flyers/Pitts series, but throughout all series.
Shanny and his team seem to have multi sided dice, and when something happens they roll and whatever it comes up, is how they suspend.
I agree with this ruling, but man do I think Shanny (and his team) need to figured their **** out, before next year...or get replaced.
Inconsistanty is the new NHL disciplinary way.

Agreed.

I mean hitting in general is going to start getting removed from the game...basically you could slam someone's head into the glass and walk away with a small fine or you can hit a goalie, have him play the rest of the series after putting on an acting clinic then sit out 3 games.

No one is going to know where the line is, and the sport itself is going to suffer from that.

Oh come on. Zubrus is pretty soft for a big man but he did get clocked in the jaw at a pretty high speed, I don't think he was faking.

That said, the suspension is pretty warranted but the NHL should probably work on consistency. So whose gonna center our first line?

How G gets a game and Ovi gets nothing is beyond me.

Mind****ed as to how the NHL and Shanny come up with these suspensions

Good call by Shanny

Well, this can go either one of two ways: The guys on the team use G's suspension as a rallying point and all raise their level of play, or they basically accept it as the end of their season, capitulate for the fourth straight game, and go out like dogs.

Ovi hit the head but G was clearly pissed when he did it. Clear intent plus the hit. Don't think he was going for a hit to the head just worked out that way with the height diff. It's a good call.

Time to step it up

Much more likely they piss the game away.

This is how the paper will read:

ExDevil Shannahan suspends Flyers Giroux 1 game to help his ex-Devils seal the deal against the flyers in game 5.

)

and when Flyers win, they'll use this suspension as the 'turning point' in the series
LOL

If history is any barometer--- when the Flyers last game comes-- they usually get blown out and I have to stare at the final score on websites featuring the Flyers --- until September. It sucks.

That was a simple charge where the head was hit along with the body, Giroux went past Zubrus' body for the sole purpose of hitting him in the head.

Because, when a player jumps to hit the head of an opponent it is because they are trying to void contact. Did you learn nothing from the defense of Neal's clean play?

Surprised....but it's deserved. Hopefully they consistently start nailing stars for these now. They've gotten Doan, Keith, and Neal too. Malkin is the big hurdle apparently.

So, it's better to literally jump off the ice and hit an opponent in the head because it's only charging? Noted...

kind of a joke. neal gets one based on "repeat offender"

as far as i know giroux is not. Based on how the other disciplines went, this is a tough one to swallow.

That's such a **** way to determine these things as is the resulting damage to the player. The players must be held responsible for hitting the head regardless of intent.
