He's always been a good player. People have used his salary as justification for making him their whipping boy in the past. In today's NHL though if anything he would probably get more than he's getting now as a UFA.

I used to hate Erat's contract, but he is worth every dime right now.

Erat is a boss. Would be amazing to see him and Leggy get a couple hundred more points each

It was funny back then we used to convince ourselves to "wait for a few years when he'll be a bargain."

Erat, in most cases, is our best overall forward.

However, I think he's been pretty bad this season. An offense killer.

He's always liked to hold on to the puck too long, and is almost as bad as Sergei at passing up shots to make ill-advised passes, but he's been a turnover machine thus far.

Another guy that is likely pretty rusty after chillaxin at home during the lockout, hopefully.

Yeah the article doesnt pump his tires, its a good article, but it sucks that its true. It almost sounds like Trotz feels sorry for Marty with his "pep" talk he gave him.

i thought that too. trotz was along the lines of "marty is hard enough on himself. he doesn't need it from coaches or anyone else" .. at least erat knows he has sucked terribly.

Erat is our leading scorer now. So, yeah. That's a thing.

Well, Marty had a good run with us and gave us all he had. He will definitely go down as my favorite player to don a nashville jersey.

For all the talk about Predators lack of scoring consistency, Erat is undoubtably the most consistent scoring-line player we've had.

He's had to play with inferior line-mates most of his career and still created offense and put up consistent numbers.

This is first down year in 10 years.

It is disturbing that he wanted out, but under the circumstances, hard to ask for a better return and Erat is no spring chicken and only has a year left on his contract.

So in a way we should be thanking Erat for his contributions, and thanking him for asking for a trade.

I hope he tears it up in Washington.

Gonna miss him, my fathers favorite player who passed just over a month ago. It's only fitting though as my brother said. I just can't believe we have Filip Forsberg now. So awesome!

Thanks to Marty for all he did. Sad to see him go. He is a good guy and no matter how much we complained about him, he really did work hard every game. No more Marty Party.

I prefer to remember Marty by his scoring on the penalty shot goal in the playoffs against chicago. That was awesome!

Good luck to him in Washington!

Not bad when you can get 11 years of productive and consistent play from a 7th round pick and still get a top prospect back for him.

Marty was in a lot of ways the ultimate Pred...Unheralded, scrappy and would just compete. Produced well beyond perceived talent..

I hope the best for him in Washington.
