What say you ?
I absolutely agree. The 3rd OT win was huge, but it wasn't as much of a "must win" situation. To be 7 seconds away from going down 3-2 to the Caps and going to their building for game 6... I know the Rangers won in that situation in the first round, but I just do not think they would have pulled it off this time. Plus how deflating is it now to that Caps knowing that they were basicaly 7 seconds away from that situation and then losing it.

I'm not saying it is not explainable but he's not just a casual fan, and for a play-by-play commentator who covers the Rangers the most outside of Sam and Joe - he's done it throughout the play-offs which is mindboggling. He messes up the names of other Rangers as well.

Back to the game discussion. I'm starting to feel that karma is on our side - Richards scoring with under 7 seconds right away took me back to 06' and the goal by Drury.

That's understandable as a 1 looks very similar to a 2

Rangers are 5 wins away from the SCF.

Beating the Caps would be another monkey off their backs.

Most of the whining about the "10000" posts we had in the series comes from the NJ board. (including other laughable "claims"). Fun to read the threads though.
Like half of them were saves before it hit the post. The way I see it if Lundqvist makes the save and it still goes in that's bad luck. He got enough of the shot for it not to go in. /discussion

Kudos to:

Richie- The Money Man
Mitch- won the faceoff in OT and passed to Staal for winner, 4-4 on faceoffs
Staal- great shot and I believe he was the best player on the ice
Captain Courageous for showing the way, keeping the puck alive on game tying goal
Stu Bickel- for knocking hendricks, the Craps tough guy on his ass about 10 times
Danny G. and McD- styfling D
MDZ- for getting puck to the net on game tier
Boyle- all over the ice

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe we've won the 3 games called by Doc this series and lost the 2 not called by him.

So I could care less if he messes up the names occasionally.

The Caps got what they deserved imo.

The holding on the back boards, the closing the hand on the puck - theyve done that the previous 2 wins and last night when the Rangers tried to tie it late. Why the refs continued to let the clock go down while the puck was clearly smothered to run off time is beyond me. Between game 2, 4 & 5 there must have been 2 full minutes taken off the clock instead of several whistles.

I gotta give the Caps credit, i just dont know how this team is playing such great D considering the year theyve had. Its not that I dont think they are capable of playing such a stingy style, because i think they have some good defensive talent, its that they are sustaining it. Because its not just about the defense its about the whole team as a unit that makes that work. I thought for sure they would have abandoned it by now, even if it was for small stretches throughout the game. Credit the coach and players.

Thats why i thought it was so important to get that OT winner quickly, and while its so important for the Rangers find a way to take 2 goal lead in the late stages of the game on the road tomorrow. The Rangers need to play with a lead in Game 6, to loosen the Caps up and make them make mistakes. Thats why its so important that the Rangers continue to press if they find themselves with a lead. Playing from behind against this team is allowing them to really find their A game.

You sure it wasn't Lundqvist save on Backstrom that would have sealed the game?

I dunno whats with the hate for Doc here other than the fact that he did work for the Devils. He has an enthusiasm when he calls the game that is matched by few other PBP guys.

He's called every game hasn't he? He definitely called the Sat game we lost.

BTW, I have a question I've always wanted to ask. Does Stralman's count as a "chance"? If he didn't score I assume it wouldn't, but does every goal automatically count as a chance, no matter how soft?

According to the Devils board, Doc is bad luck when he does D's games. Go figure

Meh. If you read enough here, every play by play guy sucks, every analyst sucks, ever intermission guy sucks...nobody knows as much about hockey as the person posting. Welcome to the Interwebs.

EVERY announcer gets names wrong on occasion, including Sam Rosen. This is hockey, not baseball...a lot is happening at a very fast pace. Especially in the playoffs.

But, not liking an announcer doesn't make it "hate". I am sure he's a decent guy all around.

Who got the hat?

Even though B-Rad is the reason this game goes to OT and gives us a chance to win, Staal was incredible. Scores the game winner and breaks up a 3-on-1...twice on the same play!
