It's never the Sharks' year.

I'm really happy for Phoenix. The crowds have been fantastic. Good news on the sale. Hopefully this is the start of building up a decent market in Arizona.

Suter is Detroit bound IMO.

Suter has no reason not to test the market now. It's not as if he's risking an injury that will prevent him from getting a good contract. He should wait until July 1. If nothing else, the Predators will be forced to give him anything he wants to keep him: money, NMC, the owner's daughter.

I don't buy the popular Suter to Detroit rumors. Just because Detroit might love to grab him with Lidstrom gone/going doesn't mean it's where he wants to land. First off, Detroit has, thus far, never paid a player the kind of money it's speculated Suter will end up with. Second, Suter might not sign with a team that was such a rival to Nashville... I know, not a lot of players play by such 'scruples' but he has the entire league to choose from; he may choose not to play his only other team so many times each season. I could easily see him coming to the EC. I could also see teams like EDM throwing massive cash at him, even though I don't think he'd sign there. IDK, he makes sense in Detroit, but saying he's Detroit bound is just a huge speculation, IMO.

It would be very unorthodox for Detroit to sign such an expensive player like Suter/Weber/Parise. Then again, the Devils were similar until Kovalachuk rolled along.

Definitely could see Edmonton going for Suter. They are so rich in assets, it would be hard to imagine them not bidding for him. If the Oilers team does not show some real improvement this coming season, and it is pretty much accepted that the improvement required is on defense, there will be some heat on Tambellini and Lowe.

How much Cap space do teams like Philly and Tampa have? I'd imagine that they'd throw some lucrative offers to Suter.

I honestly could see Pittsburgh going after Suter if they found a way to move Martin/moved Staal/Orpik. They want to improve their defense badly. I know they won't be able to add him, but if they moved the appropriate salary I could see them wanting him. I think Edmonton will be in the game. I could see Detroit bidding to a point and I'm sure NYI will try, even if they have no shot. I think there will be a ton of suitors, no pun intended.

my personal opinion...I think Suter is overrated.

Good player...totally not worth the money he's about to get.

If Suter doesn't mind the weather, Edmonton is an excellent choice. They have 3 first overall picks, young players like Eberle and Gagner, plus their early second round picks are so early they are essentially first round quality.

The Oilers are a young team with the best prospect corps in the league.

If you add a star to the defense, Edmonton will be really good. Their young guns well improve, they will add Suter and Nail, and they will probably add a couple more rookies midway through the season. This would be enough not just to make the playoffs, but to be one of the best teams in the NHL.

Even without Suter, by adding Nail and another rookie, Edmonton should become a playoff team next year.

That's FA for you. Players will get more than they deserve when they are in demand.

IMO Suter > Webber.

Doubt that. They wont be going to playoffs any time soon unless they fix that blue line.

If they can add Suter and then trade down and pick 1 of the top blue liners ( Dumba, Murray, Trouba, Rilley) and get extra draft picks that would make more sense.

It's so strange hearing things like "Roszival up the ice with speed" and "Derek Morris strikes first!"

Nope but he was solid IMO as a Ranger as a rental.

Morris rounded out our 3rd D pairing with Mara when Staal was with Girardi and Redden was with Rozsival.

It was actually probably the most balanced back 6 we've had since the lockout. I think our D is better now but we don't have as good a #6.

Looks like Meszaros is playing for Philly tonight. Hs first game since back surgery on March 1. Go Flyers. Prolong the series.
