Around the NHL (Part XXXV): Playoffs!

Other thread is over the limit.

Phoenix - LA Western Conference Final. Never would have guessed. Let's go Coyotes!

Don't see him making much of a difference. It'll be interesting to see how the Flyers come out without Giroux. As much as I would like to see Philly prolong the series, I would not be mad if the Devils ended the series tonight. They have completely outplayed the Flyers and deserve to take them out in 5.

Mods: please sticky!

LA-Phoenix is not a fluke. Coyotes have the best record in the league since 2/1 and I believe the Kings have the second best recond in calendar 2012. Removing Jack Johnson from the Kings defense has been a major upgrade.

Morris is probably playing better than he has in last two years for Coyotes, He was a healthy scratch earlier this year and he was available cheap but there were no buyers. Rozsival is very steady.

My head says LA but my heart says Phoenix.

Anybody would think that nhl.com hires bi-polar and schizophrenic writers only. One day the rangers are struggling and utter garbage, the next the PP is clicking and Staal is a god. What a difference a win makes.

Pretty annoying to have to read them flip-flopping all over the place though.

I am going to go with Phoenix in 6 in the West. Rangers in 6 in the East over NJ.

PHX vs. NYR Final.

Apparently Suter wants to play in Minnesota

Quote:
Suter is No. 1 on the Red Wings' wish list, regardless of whether Lidstrom returns.

Some in the organization believe Suter is the closest thing they have seen to Lidstrom. He is an all-around defenseman who moves the puck well, has a terrific shot from the point, likes to hit, logs a lot of minutes and has been extremely durable. And he's only 27.

Suter turned down a lucrative offer from Nashville during the season. Some believe he wants to sign with the Minnesota Wild.

The Detroit beat writer wrote the cap will rise to $70M in the summer under the current agreement. He failed to mention the CBA expires in 4 months. Bettman will **** a brick if the NHL plays a single game with a $70M upper limit. The Wings have the room to add major payroll within the current upper limit thinking it stays in that area. Minus a few million. They don't have many young players up for new deals within the next few years.

Small sample size, so 2 PPGs makes a huge impact on the %

Minny and Detroit have to be the leading candidates, but Detroit remains my guess, if only for the fact that I'd suspect he wants to get away from middling franchises and play for a perennially well-constructed team. Detroit has plenty of cap space, and Suter is the type of player who's right up their alley and would fit right in. Parise is, as well.

Parise and Suter to Minnesota is my guess.

Tired of hearing about Detroit.

It was the same last year with Boston - their PP struggled but kept producing timely goals when needed the most.

Doug Weight is on NHL Live. He has no eyebrows like Whoopie Goldberg.

I'm thinking the Flyers win it tonight.

I agree with the sentiment that Parise will go to the Western Conference. Minnesota and Vancouver will go hard for him, but I have a strange feeling he may end up in Detroit.

As for Suter, I think he goes to the East. Tampa and the Islanders will throw mega money at him. I think he goes to a bigger market though. Thinking along the lines of Pittsburgh or even NJ (though they'd be stupid to swap one big contract for another)

Weight is saying The Capitals should've taken a few penalties on Cally to prevent him from getting all those shots off in the end.

Parise and Suter to Minny. They wil be lured in by the chance to play alongside the one and only, the legend... Erik Christensen

There was a delayed penalty coming up as cally was swinging away IIRC.

I really like their team and a few of their players. But dear god that is the most undeserving fan base ever.

Bull. Just because not everybody likes hockey in ARIZONA doesn't mean the diehards are undeserving.

Considering there have been relocation rumors forever, I say they're very deserving. Nobody deserves to have their team taken from them.

Really? With all the rumors of their team leaving, I'd say the fans that have remained loyal are the most deserving of a cup, not knowing whether or not their team will even be there next year. You're complaining about something that isn't tangible.

How so? They've had to deal with quite a bit of mediocrity and constant threats of re-location.

What diehards? I went to a few games back in the late 90's and been to the jobing arena once. They're extremely small amount of die hards. About as die hard of a fan base as the Atlanta thrashers had.

They didn't even care about the team when it was fear of relocating for the past few seasons. No huge spikes in attendance added with the facts that they had some fairly good teams.

I have even seen quite a few empty seats during their playoff run. The only interest has been generated because of their very recent success. Even the Predators(who I have given crap to)fanbase are more deserving. At least they have picked it up the past few years despite not winning anything.
