I hate to admit I laughed at the subject line but I did!
Well, Homer, you were right. We sure got different.
Hopefully management learns something about team defence, you know, that forewards have to backcheck. You can't have your 19 and 25 year old rookies as your best defensive forwards.
I won't even get into what I think of Bryz after that second goal but I guess it's a microcosm of the season. 8 more years...

I laughed when making it.. Just too perfect when i saw the 'waived' tag
If there was any silver lining in the second round, it was the play of Coburn. Hopefully that continues, unabated, for many years.
Yeah, and we all saw what a healthy Grossmann can do. Gus and Bourdon were nice surprises.
Who the hell expected Matt Read to lead all rookies in scoring? Who expected Couturier to emerge into a shutdown ace in his first season?
Having 7-8-9 rookies out there every single game, having no Pronger, a total makeover, beating the Pens, I'd say this season is a pretty good one when we look back at it in few months.
Sure I'm pissed we lost, but only one team can make it each season. Obviously the Devils were a bad matchup in hindsight and there's not much you can do except to learn from it and try even harder next season.
I still love this team. I honestly think this is the closest-knit team I've seen in hockey in a while. I have so many good memories of this season. 24/7 was great, and we really had an amazing year considering Homer basically gutted the team in the off-season. Our rookies (though they won't be rookies next year) were absolutely awesome, and it's great that they got through the first round to get some playoff experience. Also: we still have Giroux! He is going to be amazing for years and years to come.
Tough loss, but this team is and will continue to be a contender.
I know it's a cool thing to hate on Bryz, mr Universe jokes etc, but to be honest, him and Coburn were our best players in the series vs the Devils.
No doubt. That does make me hopeful for next year. With Kimmo another year older, and the Pronger situation Coburn will need to play an even bigger roll next year. Even though I knew it wasn't true, and seemed at times that the media (mainly the national media) didn't noticed he showed he is still a pretty good goalie (tonight's game winning goal aside). Hopefully having a year to adjust to what it's like to play goalie for the Flyers, and getting the bone chip taken care of he should be ready to roll next year. So those things were nice. Other than that it was mostly a pretty poop-ety series. Oh well other than the series rekindling my hate for the Devils.
Of course you want a cup every year, but given the trades, rookies, injuries, and Bryz, I was pretty happy with how this season turned out (except for the last part)

I've hated the Pens, Rangers, Leafs, Bruins, etc. at times, but no one has ever come close to how much I hate the Devils. This series absolutely brought up those old memories (2000 most notably).
The downside will be that Coburn was indeed a beast these playoffs, much like JvR was last playoff...so our expectation of both of them (healthy) next season will be sky high, especially since they're both starting with their new contracts. I hope they both keep it up.
Needs
1) A physical center. Cooter is not yet a man sized guy and Schenn is like Richards, he gets worn down
2) A back up goalie - Bob is not it, he is our best trade bait
3) A healthy JVR - because we do not know what we have until he is healthy
4) 1 more Behind Kicker on D - Grossmann is big and strong but we need some MEAN
Lose Carle, trade Bob, do not pay Jagr more than 2.5 mm$, drop Shelley

Still hate the Pens more, but the Devils are #2, mostly from history. We got them a couple years back, so that was nice. Even in this series, its not like they trapped us to death(why i used to hate them so much), their offensive zone presence was great.

Disagree that Bob is our best trade bait, because we probably wouldn't get that much for him. One of our young forwards on the other hand...
