Future of Kimmo Timonen

Kimmo deserves is own thread.

Kimmo is a warrior, but he's never looked as mortal as he did this series. He looked very slow and injured down the stretch at times this year as well. Will he be able to heal and recover for next season? Do you expect him to be more than a shell of the player he used to be next year? Does he rebound and have more of a career left in his tank down the line, or is he rapidly coming to the end of the road? How banged up is he? How do the Flyers prepare to replace him?

Personally, I think he's finished. He's a tough *******, but eventually you're body is going to shut down. He was at one point one of the best defenseman on the Flyers, but that time has past.

It seems like he just gets worn down as the season progresses. He was VERY good through the first half of the season and then slowly declined. I'm interested to see if he has injuries.

we over used him

maybe if he can sit out 60 games of the season, and come back for the playoffs, he'll be godo to go for the playoffs.

Am up in the air about his future

One one had, if he retires, i'll miss him but we will have tons of cap space to get better..

on the other hand, he is still pretty solid

This is what upsets me more than the loss. Love this guy but he's been overused so badly the past few years and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he called it quits.

All I know is that if Kimmo does decide to retire, for better or for worse, Suter is going to get a blank check to sign here.

I think he'll play next year(hopefully in a reduced role seeing 2nd pairing minutes) and retire after next year. He's just not what he used to be.

One more year; limit his minutes in the regular season, so there's gas in the tank in April.

Yeah, and that'd be better, way better in the long run.

I would try to get Suter and then really limit Kimmo's ice time so he isn't run down near the end of the year.

Try some San Antonio Spurs philosophy. Rest your guys.

In general, yes, but it depends how big the check is.

A lot of people thought that about the last guy we gave a blank check to.

Yeah. We were. Imagine another season of Bob and Leighton? I'd rather not.

He's coming back. He seems like the kind of guy that is going to play until they have to pry him off the ice.

We had to overwork him again. They need another good D man or two and keep Kimmo's minutes reasonable.

This.If he doesn't retire I'd like to see him back with a lot less minutes and wear and tear. He'll be much more useful later in the year I think. No reason Coburn/Mez/Carle can't pick up the slack. That's if Carle is back.

Flyers are just so unlucky with injuries at the blue line.

So many years of issues with this garbage.

I really wish Kimmo would get a cup with this team.

ummm, isnt that stating the obvious with anyone as the season goes on?

I believe he will be a warrior and a competitor and play out his contract. He seems like that type of person

Nashville will take him back. We aren't concerned of his cap hit (actual pay is only 3m).

And we'll likely trade you Suter's rights... but could be a big bidding war with Pittsburgh. Got to keep him out of Detroit though.
