I think this seems to be getting lost to a lot of people. If you had told me at the beginning of the season we get to the 2nd round of the playoffs, I'd have called that a good season. Honestly it was a flip of the coin we'd even make the playoffs.
Btw, anyone else kinda hoping Kimmo decides to call it quits this offseason? Its painfully obvious the guy just can't play a full season anymore. This is two years in a row he's been more or less worthless in the playoffs. That 6.3 mill cap hit could go a long way toward revamping a d-core in desperate need of revamping.
Kimmo's 1 year left isn't preventing us from doing anything. There are very few options this offseason and we can already afford one at 6m with - Carle & Jagr).
Trade JvR for whatever you can get. Dont resign Carle, hus is worthless. Trade Bryz to whatever team is in on the Luongo sweepstakes and loses. Find a goalie capable of stopping the puck and knows how to make a pass to a player 5 feet away. Sign a defensive defensman, aka, Suter, and build around him.

I'm not sure there will be a Luongo sweepstakes. Not that many teams want a 5 mil goalie, and Bryz has a NMC.

Cap will go up. 5 million isnt that much. Tampa will be in on him, the Laffs will be in on him, and probably at least one more team. Everything I said was basically a joke and none of it will happen, but I wouldnt mind a few of them happening, like trading JvR

Overall I am quite pleased with the season. We are young, fun to watch and a team on the rise for once instead of old and full of UFA's. I'm also really looking forward to this years draft. Plenty of gems in the first round. I'm really curious to see how the D looks in October.
If the correct decisions are made on defence this team could be a contender next year. This is the first time I've felt that in a long time.

We are not giving suter 14mil per year. We have enough to sign him to 7m by not paying Carle + Jagr, we might need to clear a little more after that for breathing room, but he's been signed. Dont really see the need to dump KT, he has 1yr left anyway.

i actually think Jagr had good year, if you take in account he had serious injuries with groin, which was holding him back ever since, till NJ devils where he dissapeared completely.
and according to your mesuring G shouldnt be resigned as well as he did not really show up too in NJ series, just saying

and obviously I am not insinuating a 9+ million deal or Sutter, but I just believe Kimmo is done here. I appreciate everything he has done for this organization, but if we can move him along or he retires then I believe it's a good thing.
