I hope the Red Wings are the third team and run away screaming with joy after the dust settles.

So someone credible like Mckenzie,Botta,Matheson or Staples has confirmed Eklund's rumor?

Which one?

Good grief. Isles fans are so cocky in this thread when Edmonton has been the better franchise despite the lunatics in charge over there.

How are we cocky? Is it because we don't want to ship our top young talent to Edmonton to move up 3 spots. Oiler fans think they can get top young talents like Nino, Strome or Hamonic just to move up 3 slots. The Oilers are the team that does not have the upper hand in this scenario because everyone knows they want Murray or Dumba, and at 1, they're pretty much obligated to take Yakupov because he's the top talent in this draft. Nobody sells a car they really want to keep. If Edmonton wants to slide down and grab the player they want, they will have to settle for what teams are willing to part with.

Some posters in this thread are mocking the Oilers over lottery teams, 1st overall picks. Newsflash, look in the mirror. It's like Chris Farley calling Michael Moore fat.

And where is the proof that Edmonton wants Murray or Dumba? I'm sure they're more than happy to get Yakupov, who is by far the best player in the draft according to professional scouts.

Cocky how?
By realizing the NYI need a stud blueliner and not wanting to use 4th overall +top youngsters ,to move up and take a talented Russian forward?

By realizing the KHL could be a problem, they way it was in the Grebs and Petrov situations?

Or maybe NYI fans were cocky for saying hell no,we aren't trading Weberlite to move up 3 spots, when sitting tight at #4 will allow the NYI to draft a defenseman with first pairing potential:Murray or Dumba?

Well it certainly didn't take you very long to prove Kershaw correct on the "cocky" bit.

What's funny is that you actually believe Hamonic is Weberlite.

That's the funniest thing I've heard since MacDonald is better than Girardi.

Wow. Very cocky over a meaningless hockey game between two lottery teams.

Isles have a deeper pool of forward prospects then defensive prospects.

Where is the proof, that they are trying to trade for a bigtime defenseman, to send him to Edmonton?
In a weak ufa market, with Wang spending barely above the cap floor, where is the proof they are signing a 'bigtime, ufa defenseman'?
What a riduclous rumor

I'm not even agreeing the rumor. It's Eklund stirring the pot once again.

Not sure where a Rag fan fits into this conversation. Go enjoy your playoffs and let us losers fight this one out.

Yes,I'm very pleased with how Weberlite's developing.More importantly, the Isles coaches and front office is pleased.

I haven't commented on MacDonald or Girard,so stick to my comments.

Hamonic is going to be a stud. He's most of the way there already, and he's 21. We all know you Rags have the greatest team on earth (you all sure think you do) but we have some talent out on the Island too. We're not the Mets

That's fine, but comparing him to the best defenseman in the world? Overrating at it's finest.

You might've not, but from posts in the offseason and at Islanders games last year, it was much different.

Hamonic is a good player, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Pierre McGuire is the one who stuck that nametag on him.

Whether fans of other teams agree or not, doesn't make much difference.Isles and their fans love how he's developing.

Weberlite won't be traded at 21/22 yrs old,to move up 3 spots in the draft.

This could be easily defined as "cocky"

Not sure exactly to feel about being the dubbed the "Gandalf of Hockey" by a poster who is clearly agitated.

Personally I don't feel that the latter post is cocky in the text but certainly in its tone, I guess the standard "genius" wasn't good enough.

Well off to help a hobbit throw a ring of power into a volcano. You could bite his finger off for him at the end if you like.

McGuire says a lot of things.

You should've heard him and the things he said about Kreider in game one of the Caps series. He gets a hard on for young players very quickly.
