Which UFA D Do You Want If No Suter?

I assume all fans want Suter, who is next on your list? Choose one or two.

Outside of Suter, I'd say that Garrison and Schultz are top on my list. If we needed some veterans, but not old ones, I'd go for Jackman and Zanon.

Johnny Oduya had a bit of a down year, so he probably won't command that big a contract. He's pretty useful in that he can play in every situation and move up a pairing for a while, without making a complete fool of himself. I'd be interested in a guy like Jackman as well, he's a warrior.

Absolutely not, Wideman is terrible defensively.

Of the guys on the list, it has to be Jackman. Schultz as well only because of what people are saying about his potential. Holmgren likes to get after college kids. I think we'll be in the mix.

Schultz or Wideman.

Schultz is widely considered to be NHL-ready and a projected top 2 defenseman for years to come but feel he may opt for the Leafs to join his former partner, Jake Gardiner.

Weber would be nice here

If they don't want a trade, then offer sheet him.

10 years 7.5m per.

1. Suter
2. Schultz

Pass on the rest. All have significant flaws, and on 7/1 will command more $$$$ than they're worth.

Jackman is the only other one I like. I've never seen the Schultz kid.

Voted for Jackman because, for some reason, I assumed Schultz = Capitals scrub. When I saw the results, I realized 8 people couldn't be that dumb.

Justin Schultz is locked in at an ELC anyway, so really there's no reason you couldn't sign him and someone else. My sense is that we aren't a serious player though--that there are other places where he can either play huge minutes sooner (Edmonton) or play with his old college buddies (NYR, TML, etc.)

Barrett Jackman could be a nice addition. Garrison will likely get the Matt Carle treatment--massive overpayment--but this team was missing a viable PP shot this year.

I too assumed Shultz was the pylon who practices down the road from me. I know nothing about this Shultz, but am intrigued.

Nashville would match that no doubt. Also there has been like 6 offer sheets since the lockout with one player actually going to that team(Penner). The best way to get Weber would be in a trade. 2 1st rounders, JVR, and a prospect would be a steep price to pay but would make the Preds think about I believe. If an opportunity comes up to get Weber, you know the Flyers will be one in the running.

Barret Jackman is the other defenseman I would love to have if Suter isn't possible. He is a shutdown defender and also plays physical. We still lack a shot desperately from the back end, but you can hope that MEZ and Coburn try to take more of the burden then Kimmo. Coburn needs to play like he did in the playoffs all year, and he would be getting over 22 minutes every night for this team on a regular basis

Bruins fan in peace here. You guys should ban the guy who voted for Joe Corvo. You know how many times I saw Corvo basically score on Thomas this year (or may as well have just put the puck in the net himself-.)

And not to mention you guys need defense.

There's a few head-scratchers up there. Carle isn't good, and I don't want him back. But he's better than most of the guys on that list (he'll also get paid more).
