That injury was just devastating to this team. It's a testament to the team that they were able to overcome it as long as they have. Grossmann helped stem the bleeding but he's def not the same after his knee and head shot.

Needless to say Lavy has to do something crazy tomorrow.

Start a Black Ace. Start Kubuina. Start Sestito.

Do something Lavy. So sad to see this guy get outcoached.

I don't think there is really much he can do. Can't make forwards play a defensive system in 1 week. If this sort of thing had been being coached all year....

The fast break offense is fun when its working...

Yeah I think he wanted to prove a bit of a point....man I can only imagine how the Flyers would do against Mike Smith. Only solution Lavi would have would be to dump a barrel of rubber cement in his crease....

if anyone is watching the Washington vs rangers game 5, on the second pp goal, this is what happens when your defense shoots the puck and beats good goaltenders, this is what the flyers have to do to beat the devils, their defense has to score or shoot more because their trap has the forwards defended and they have to pass to the defenders because they have room to shoot even if blocked you keep shooting and trying you will score a goal.

I'm guessing the return of Mez does zero to turn this series around.

Way too many turnovers in our own zone and, not only that, we can't seem to clear it when we do get it. I blame the defensemen on this mainly. There not looking where they're sending the puck. They're just careless altogether. The fact that we've been in every game is really amazing, actually, considering the total dominance by the Devils. The pressure from New Jersey has been relentless. They really caught the Flyers off guard, in my opinion. The players and Lavy haven't adapted to what Jersey is doing. I hope it's not too late. I still think we have more talent than they do. We need to get some momentum going in New Jersey's end and start throwing some pucks on Brodeur to test him. He's nowhere near as good as he used to be. We can still win this thing. I'm not expecting us to, but we still have a pulse. Anything can happen. Go Flyers!!!

Aaron Ward brought up a great point before the game, that I had never noticed. I'm sure it's been pointed out before, but every Flyers D-man is a left handed shot- Therefore when they're trying to carry it out of their zone, they consistently try to bring it up the left side which makes them extremely predictable.

Philly D Man

Honesly watching this team in both series during the playoffs, i know the goalie has been weak but i have never seen a more incompetant D core than these Flyers. They have no ability to make a pass to a forward. They make an easy play really hard.

Staring with Matt Carle, i did not watch much of this guy before the playoffs but acually watching him, hes got to be the most overraed player in the league. He horrible he cant make a pass and is terrible at D. How he still plays in the NHL i dont know. You have good forwards but your D man are just sickening to watch. I don know why Kubina isnt in, hes not great but hes better than attleast 2 of your D including Carle.

Kimmo is done. I hope he retires when he has some sort of dignity left. Or atleast take the First half of the season off to see if the team needs him.

His leadership, and play in the past has absolved him from any sort of criticism all year when it was apparent that he was a liability on the ice especially late in the year and this series particularly.

I think Mez, coburn, grossman and gus is a nice group going forward and if we can add two more young reliable pieces we could be in good shape.

I'll throw it in here, if Phoenix got Rundblad for Turris, what can we get for JVR?

I said that in December and it was blasphemous.

Timonen can play a big role he just cannot carry the load anymore.

This teams problem was not defense persay, but the inability of all players to make smart choices with the puck in tight checking games. For as many good things as carle did this season, he's a prime example of a player who cannot thrive in this system with his constant disregard for puck possession

sadly, that's like saying Lightman Drum is New Jersey's cleanest Superfund site

the fact is that Timonen has been on the decline for years, and hasn't been a suitable number 1 for Lavi's pond hockey system for quite some time

I know that's blasphemous to his fans but it's true

He has veen on the decline but that doesnt ignore the fact that he was overall bettet than any of the other defenders who played on the team this season. Thats why next season will be scary if we dont have a number 1 defender
