Yes, he only had 2 more points than the defenseman last year who lead the league in points and was ranked 4th in Norris votes. OH MY GOD! THE HORROR!
It's not enough. Young NHL dmen should be scoring 34+ points or they have no business in this league...oh wait, that means that there's only like 10-15 guys left. Never mind then.

Anaheim fans think Fowler's defensive game is progressing.

Shocking.

It is. If you actually watched him play a few games you could see for yourself. He has the occasional defensive lapse, but...so does everybody.

But you know...he's got a bad +/- rating so...we must be blind and/or retarded. No other stat or variable can be used to judge defensive play. +/- is the defensive gospel. Let us all get down on our knees and submit ourselves to it.

At this rate, he should be able to break -40 next year.

Oooh yes. Even better. +/- PROJECTIONS.

You sir are a defensive expert. What was I thinking crossing logical swords with you?

EDIT: Just saw your post mod. Sorry.

Why do you keep using +/- as a legitimate stat? Cam Fowler was on the top pairing of an awful Ducks team. No one is claming he is or ever will be a defensive stalwart, but to say hes regressing is a stretch.

Tyler Seguin was a +36, does that mean hes one of the best defensive forwards in the game? No, he was playing with Selke candidate Bergeron. +/- is NOT a great way to prove someone is good/bad/progressing/regressing, theres an incredible amount of variables, a lot of which depend on the team.

Murray could and probably will play in the NHL , maybe even rather easily on a bottom feeder because of his hockeysense and skating.

But I feel he won't even be the 2nd or 3rd best dman from the top 15 of this draft.

Over the course of his career, or just next year? I think he'll definitely be in the top 3 2012 draftee defencemen who play next year. Probably number 1 actually, given that he's relatively safe and seems to be good at passing (from what I've seen in his limited play at the Worlds)

Both of these are true. But he did lead in PPTOI/G and was second in ESTOI/G.

He also played 12 more games than Visnovsky yet had only 2 more points, so the assertion that he led the team in scoring for dmen is a little misleading.
How is it misleading? He played more then Vis and had more points, clear, cut and simple. How do you know Vis would have received 2 pts in those 12 games?

Your team makes it out of round 2 and your now arrogant over any other teams players?

Outside of Doughty, Fowler is better than anything LA has on their squad and system.

The guy is also 20 years old, what do you want him to do with a sub-par, below average squad?

If you think Doughty would be a +30 on that team you're kidding yourself.

He's not NHL ready and won't be in the NHL next season.
Have to agree with you, he's just not big enough to play his game in the NHL next year....Doesn't mean he won't have a great dub season though, and use it to bulk up and season his game....
