You just described Prust during the regular season, who's an awesome bottom 6 guy.
Prust thus far in the playoffs has been a disaster along the boards, makes horrible passes all over the place, and has failed to clear the puck on numerous golden opportunities during the PK. He's been flat out bad this post-season.
Maybe I was watching a different game, but during game 5 I though Prust did a great job keeping the puck in the caps zone. While there weren't many Scoring chances produced, he was probably the best player on the Stepan, Feds line.
As many previous posters have alluded to, just because you don't score doesn't mean you are not effective. Just ask Philly and Pittsburgh how having a bunch of offensive studs worked out.
The rangers need to finally play a game where they are relentless for at least two periods. last game they started off great but couldn't convert more than 1 goal. I mean the last time the rangers had an easier game was in Game 1 agianst ottawa.
Sigh. I hate fans who label players "useless" because they're not sexy snipers. Prust gets pucks deep. He holds ONTO pucks. He makes smart passes. He hits. He forechecks. He blocks shots. Hes a very good PKer, very under appreciated but he always has his stick on the ice in the right passing lanes defensively. It makes a bigger difference than you think. Prust has been better than Boyle or Rupp in this series. Every team has 4th line players. You can't have a team full of goal scorers.
90% useless? That's 100% bulldung.
I guess you havent watched much of the playoffs if you think he is still playing like that.
On the train from manhattan after a successful interview. Should be home just in time to change out of my suit, pick up a slice and get the game on. Let's do this tonight boys! Feeling good; hopefully can keep that buzz all night. Rangers in 6. 3-2 in OT. Boyle, Gaborik, Callahan in OT.
