Why is he saying that as a current assistant with the Devils?

YES.

The Habs snobbed him long enough. He must come back home.

Robinson, who currently works for the New Jersey Devils, would be a good fit with the Canadiens, Don Cape told TVA Sports. But Montreal would need to ask permission to talk to Robinson and that wouldn't be granted until after the Devils season comes to an end.

"Larry would like to return to Montreal because the right people are in place, the conditions are good and because it is the right job for him," Cape said. "We know Marc Bergevin and the Molson family, these are professional people. But it will be the next coach to determine if he wants Larry."
.....

Quote:
"Robinson enjoys working with young defencemen," Cape said. "I'm sure he would be able to bring a player like P.K. Subban to a new level. "

Who would have thought it would take Marc Bergevin to bring Larry back home?
Man Marc Bergevin is already paying off.
Gainey regimen blocked the door on Larry, Marc Bergevin is goona kick it wide open for Larry.

Yeah, certainly a little odd. But if true, I'm all for it. This defence needs coaching, especially with so many young guys on their way up.

The truth is Larry wanted to be here already ,but they didn't even call him back.

This time he's goona say it loud and clear, and i think the fans will make it known he needs to be there.

Real happy with this news.

Interesting. I remember he clearly said before that he's content in Jersey.

Also interesting that his agent mentions that "the right people are in place." I guess people really like Bergevin, eh?

The fact that Robinson, a former Habs great who is also one of the best defensive coaches out there hasn't been behind the bench in Montreal is terrible. It needs to be rectified ASAP.

Ehh....
As an assistant, right?
I mean... Technically, Robinson would be, at the very worst, the 2nd best bilingual head coach available, and considering his pedigree, that would probably makes him no.1.

But I thought he didn't want to be a head coach anymore.

I've been mentioning Robinson from the start, even as Head Coach.

Two years ago, Robinson was without contract and sought work. Its agent had come into contact with four formations, of which that of the Canadians. Pierre Boivin and Pierre Gauthier had then shown a certain interest for the services of l' old No 19 of the Tricolour one, but Devils had been the first to deposit a formal offer. J' had given 48 hours the three other teams to make an best offer, s' cape is pointed out. Two of the three formations m' said qu' they could not better do whereas CH m' did not even contact. I n' had ever seen a similar thing!

He'd be great for subban and the coaching in general.

I'd be thrilled if we can get lemaire as HC but doubt it. I'd certainly hire him as advisor though.

fat tony had a good interview with robinson's agent a while back and his agent was basically saying that robinson had told gauthier he had significant interest in joining the habs. gauthier said he was interested and he'd get back to him and in spectacular gauthier fashion, never even got back to him.

from what i remember, the agent was basically saying that robinson was borderline begging for the job as his contract with jersey was finished. big bird was then promptly re-signed by the devils.

his agent was also waying that robinson was paying almost constant one-on-one attention to the devil's new defensive star, larsson, with results that everybody can see now. pre-injury, larsson was beast. imagine big bird mentoring subban

still, gauthier =

first Dudley (in the works), now possibly Robinson...holy crap things are looking potentially very exciting for out team. I was all about Jersey given the way they've played so far, but now I want them eliminated in four so we can start talks. get a HC already so we can lock down Big Bird when the opportunity presents itself.

I was actually thinking the same thing. If they bring Robinson as assistant coach, can they convince Lemaire to join as head coach? Not saying I would be thrilled, but Lemaire would bring a much needed level of stability to this team.

If he likes what he sees here enough to have his agent say this WHILE A PART OF A VERY SUCCESSFUL COACHING STAFF STILL ACTIVE IN THE PLAYOFFS....Bonjour, Mr. Bergevin, get it done ASAP

I don't really understand why. Other than being close to NYC and being able to see the Habs for cheap in NJ and Long Island, there is nothing good here...
