I would love to have Carkner here, would be nice to see a Wing who would actually be able to fight and destroy people, and be able to provide more to the team other than just fighting.

- There's not much roster space to get bigger/tougher. They need a 4th line C but I can't see them realistically signing a guy like Konopka. Arnott, Koivu, Stoll, Kelly, and Pahlsson are available -- probably more likely that we see one of those guys than Konopka, but this is going by what Devellano said.
- Biron would be a nice upgrade over Conklin.
- I don't know where Quincey fits in if they get Suter and use Smith full time.
- I think ~$6.7m would be reasonable contracts for Suter and Parise since they'll be long-term deals -- there's still $3m in cap room with this roster if their cap numbers end up being higher.
Not saying it's unrealistic, but I would hope Lidstrom and Holland would get Lids to sign for less than 6.2. That's probably his open market value right now, but i'm hoping for a 4.5-5ish million cap hit.

Wings have a chance to get arguably the toughest fighter in the league, that can actually play good minutes as a defenseman. That D could use some work and wouldnt mind trading Quincey for Suters rights just to make room for Carkner (and then sign Suter obviously)
I have a feeling that if Carkner does get signed, he'll probably get as much ice time as Commodore did this season.

I tried to be realistic, but its hard considering we have no idea which FA's will be retained by their teams or how they value their players when it comes to trades.

Only 1 trade centering around White for Boyle. It might also cost us a prospect or pick as well, but gives the bottom 6 some added toughness and a ton of extra hits, it also makes our penalty kill much more effective.

4 Free Agents added

Parise - a much needed speedy scoring winger who should have no problem replacing Hudler

Jurcina - 6'4 253lbs, lead the Islanders in hits, had over 100 blocked shots, and had more takeaways than giveaways.

Winnick - better than 2 to 1 ratio of takeaways over giveaways, good penalty killer who adds a more physical game than Miller. Would be great on the 4th line.

Clemmensen - major improvement over Conklin or MacDonald, should have no trouble reducing Howards workload and if Howard's play slips he's capable of starting regularly.
Really like Jurcina, Boyle and Clemmensen

No way. Carkner is a solid physical number 6 dman, I dont think Commie was terrible with the wings but he attempted to be a fighter as part of his role and he wasnt that great at it. Carkner is probably a top 3 heavyweight fighter in the league, who is better at hockey. If you think Babcock wouldnt play a guy like this you are sorely mistaken

If we could honestly get both of those guys for reasonable contracts while still shoring up our D (I.E. Lidstrom returns, Sutter, or a guy like Jackman + Greg Zannon), I would not be unhappy at all. I still think Stewart has the chops to be a great powerforward, and if he could be had for 3.5ish million I wouldnt mind giving up the draft pick for compensation. Even if the cap only raises to 66 million due to the CBA, we could still ice a much improved and tougher roster than last year. Waive Emmerton, let Abdelkader walk or trade him for a 6th rounder. I kinda want to keep Kindl since In a few years I could see him being a decent 4-5th guy so maybe some tweeking to keep him, but taken into the very real possiblity of neither Parise (I'd say maybe 25% chance of signing) Semin (10%, but prob up to 20% if we don't get parise, and Sutter (I'd have him at max 10% chance of coming here at the very best, this roster would still be a marked improvement. More offense, grit, skill and size upfront along with better depth, as well as Jackman being an improvment over Stuart the past few years.

Recent photo of Jurcina:

Can't skate or play the puck. Not a fit for this team. See: Sutton, Andy.
