GM Mode 10 tasks.

Alright you are management for the Nashville Predators from today until the trading deadline. Trotz is your coach and the same coaching staff is onboard. Cap team like management has implied.

1. Who do you get rid of on the UFA list on the NHL team?
2. Who do you trade that is under contract on the NHL team?
3. What do you do with Suter?
4. If Suter does not sign who gets the A?
5. Who is your top 5 forwards in the UFA market?
6. Wish of a starting line-up for game 1?
7. Do you give up another 1st round pick at deadline?
8. What do you do with Trotz if the team is 10th in the western conf at the trade deadline?
9. What do you do if above is true and Weber is not signed?
10. What are your expectations of the Preds in 2012-2013.

-----------------------
1. Goose, AK, Toots, BMCG, Suter, Gill.
2. SK,Rads,Legwand/Fisher
3. Tell him thanks for the great years and trade his rights to the highest bidder.
4. Peks or Erat.
5. 1) Parise. 2) P-A Parenteau 3) Doan 4) Semin 5) Jeri Hudler

6.Erat- ? -Wilson
Parise-Smith-P.A. Parenteau
Bourque-Fisher/Legwand-Horny
Watson-Spaling-Halischuck

Weber-Josi
Ellis-Blum/Elkholm
Klein-Bulls

Peka

7. No
8. Keep him
9. Trade him for the highest offer
10. If we can get Weber signed, sign a first line center, sign a top 6 LW, and Blum or Elkholm are ready to be NHL players. I would say we have a great shot to finish the season in around the same area we did this year.

1. Goose, Toots, Mcgratten, Gill
2.Trade Legwand and Ellis for upgrade at center
3.Resign Suter
4.Erat
5.Parise, Semin, Olli Jokinen, Jagr, Doan
6.Erat-1st line center acquired in Legwand trade-Rads
7.Not at deadline, but probably in our package for 1st line center
8.I couldn't imagine this happening, but if it does you have to show him the door
9.Trade for something really good
10.Nothing less than the cup, of course

So we are going to let our own franchise player walk, Other huge name Offensive free agents are going to come pouring through the door and we are going to Roman Josi play on the first line when we couldnt play his way out of a paper bag in the PHX series? Oh then Austin Watson is ready to log quality minutes and Elkholm and Ellis are going to be our second pairing and Trotz is going to keep his job. This plan is unfeasible to put it nicely, He should start by locking up Weber and Suter and we should probably keep AK if we can get him on decent money. We should also keep Gill, the guy is a giant and he was coming off injury in the PHX series, he played very well in the regular season.

Has Suter shown any interest to resign? Do you want to pay 2 d men and a goalie the majority of Nashville's pay roll when it is clear we have top line offensive issues? Are you going to let Suter "are franchise player" walk away to another team for a bag of pucks July 1st?

Its a wish list. Why would players not want to come here. Not everyone can go to Detroit, NY, and Toronto.
Roman Josi held his own for his first year in the NHL and is the very last person i would complain about in the series with PHX. Are you serious??

So now the getting your legs working and getting used to the NHL on the 4th line is quality minutes? What are we going to keep the guy with the most potential in are farm system out of Nashville until he is 25?? He has the size and could not be any worse than Yip or Tootoo.

The same goes for Elkholm. Yes Ellis is ready to be in the starting 6 on the defense after another offseason. Name me someone else who is? Are you going to pay Gill and Bulls the money they are going to command? Heck in your eyes we have the money to sign everyone in the NHL.

I would love to sign Bulls or Gill to a decent contract. No way we sign both. Go check out AK contract he is currently in. He is not going to sign for decent money. Did you forget his total lack of respect for the team before game 2 of a playoff series?

Your response was irrational and silly to put it nicely.

1. Who do you get rid of on the UFA list on the NHL team?
-I think AK & Goose will be re-signed.

2. Who do you trade that is under contract on the NHL team?
-Weber will probably force Poile's hand with regard to a trade if Suter leaves.

3. What do you do with Suter?
-I think he'd be re-signed already if he was staying.

4. If Suter does not sign who gets the A?
-Erat I suppose.

5. Who is your top 5 forwards in the UFA market?
-Realistic Targets:
>PA Parenteau
>Jarret Stoll
>David Jones
>Brad Boyes
>Lee Stempniak

6. Wish of a starting line-up for game 1?
...

7. Do you give up another 1st round pick at deadline?
-Only if Poile has multiple first round picks in hand which is entirely possible if certain assets are dealt during the off-season trade.

8. What do you do with Trotz if the team is 10th in the western conf at the trade deadline?
-Trotz will likely be the coach for another decade.

9. What do you do if above is true and Weber is not signed?
-If Weber is not re-signed this summer, then the writing is on the wall with regard to his eventual trade -- this off-season will result in better return.

10. What are your expectations of the Preds in 2012-2013.
-Reg season may not be as good, but the team could surprise in the playoffs (a la Coyotes). The team culture has matured likely to the point whereby a second round victory is due.

1. Who do you get rid of on the UFA list on the NHL team?
- Resign Goose and AK

2. Who do you trade that is under contract on the NHL team?
-Suter's Rights, Radulov's Rights, and Wilson

3. What do you do with Suter?
- Trade for picks.

4. If Suter does not sign who gets the A?
- Legwand (The Traditional Predator)

5. Who is your top 5 forwards in the UFA market?
-Realistic Targets:
Center:
= Olli Jokinen $3.00 mil (Offer: 3.5 mil over 3 years)
= Saku Koivu $2.50 mil (Offer: 2.5 mil over 2 years) (More realistic target with a great faceoff %)
= Jason Arnott $2.80 mil (Offer: 2.25 mil over 2 years)

Right Wing:
= P A Parenteau $1.25 mil (Offer: 3 mil over 3 years)
= Mikael Samuelsson $2.50 mil (Offer: 3 mil over 2 years) (I like the idea of Samuelsson, I think he could easily run our system and do well)
= Todd Bertuzzi $2.50 mil (Offer: 2.5 mil over 1 year)

Defenseman:
= Dennis Wideman $3.85 mil (Offer: 4 mil over 4 years)
= Adrian Aucoin $2.00 mil (Offer: 2.5 mil over 2 years) (Great Bargain Pick-up)
=

6. Wish of a starting line-up for game 1?

Depends on who we get in FA.

AK - Fisher - Erat
Bourque - Legwand - Hornqvist
Sk - Smith - Samuelsson
Spaling - Gaustad - Halishuck

Weber - Wideman
Josi - Klein
Ellis - Aucoin

Peks
Lindback

Scratches: Hillen, Yip, Mueller

7. Do you give up another 1st round pick at deadline?

- I would deal it only if we've got an extra or enough other picks.

8. What do you do with Trotz if the team is 10th in the western conf at the trade deadline?

- If we get all we need and Trotz doesn't get us in the top 8, we let him go.

- If we lose a lot of people this off-season and can't pick-up any good people in the free agency pool...Then we can't really blame him.

9. What do you do if above is true and Weber is not signed?

-We trade Weber at the deadline for the rate of most return. Perhaps for a monster package.

10. What are your expectations of the Preds in 2012-2013.

- Depends who we get in the offseason and how well the team clicks. I'd expect a playoff berth. I expect a cup win every year if we can!

http://www.capgeek.com/cap-calculato...er.php?id=2582 - My published Roster including who I think we could pick-up in the market with acceptable raises and all. We'd still have about 4.53 million left under the cap which would allow us room at the trade deadline if we needed it. With Lindback we'd be about 3.6 mil under the cap still.

Here is another roster I made-up with Koivu in it and it runs a little better on the payroll.

Nice post. You thought about it and put the time i was looking for from preds fans. I am curious about your top 2 centers. IMO those two positions are one of are weakest links in the team. I really do not see any improvement until that is addressed. Fisher and Legwand as are top 2 centers are not going to address that. Do you realistically think we can improve with those two in the spots or do you just think we will not be able to pick someone up as an upgrade in the offseason?

Exactly.....I might give up my tickets. I saw nearly every home game that Arnott was a Predator, and I'm not sure i've seen another Predator give less effort on a night in and night out basis. The one game where I thought he was giving a great effort, he got injured, and that was the end of that as far as effort was concerned.

Don't know why everyone hates on my arnott idea. The guy has been in our system before and can be had for cheap especially after the Blues flopped and he diddnt get high line playing time. You force him to take a pay cut and get a center for cheap. He'd be a decent 3rd or 4th line center that fits the budget.

Do you remember how bad of a locker room guy he was? (from what I've heard at least)

Well I don't buy into too many rumors from the lockerroom when the players aren't really substantiating the rumor
