Just so you all can keep the pissing match going...

Here is a list of all the 40 goal scores over the last 10 years... I've bolded every player that was selected outside of the top 10.. It's a 20/18 split..

As far as Etem goes I have no problem with someone stating he has potential 40 goal scoring ability.

Stamkos - 1st
Malkin - 2nd
Gaborik - 3rd
Neal - 33rd
Perry - 28th
Iginla - 11th
D. Sedin - 2nd
Kesler - 23rd
Crosby - 1st
Ovechkin - 1st
Marleau - 2nd
Kovalchuck - 1st
Semin - 13th
Carter - 11th
Parise - 17th
Nash - 1st
E. Staal - 2nd
Hossa - 12th
Vanek - 5th
Zetterberg - 210th
Boyes - 24th
Heatley - 2nd
Lecavalier - 1st
Alfredsson - 133rd
Selanne - 10th
St. Louis - Undrafted
Gagne - 22nd
Blake - Undrafted
Cheechoo - 29th
Jagr - 5th
Gionta - 82nd
Shanahan - 2nd
Hejduk - 87th
Naslund - 16th
Bertuzzi - 23rd
Murray - 18th
Sundin - 1st
Guerin - 5th

Wow, Etem will hit 40 and/or 50 goals in a season? When did we become like Leafs' fans?

You need to refresh site (use "Ctrl" + "F5"), as I have them with their current teams. EDIT: Misunderstood what you meant. I was thinking of a prospect of every team's respective page.

But they do have DSP marked as still playing in CHL.

That list may be dated May 9th but it's definitely the old rankings.

I disagree there, though, the sky isn't the limit for everyone. There are guys you know aren't going to succeed, or if they do, it came from some unforeseen development(like Dustin Penner with a massive growth spurt that late in his life). Then there are guys like Etem, who have great skillsets, but it's just a question on how they're able to translate them. To put it in a HF rating way, his 8.0C rating is pretty good(8.5C probably would've been good too), as he has the skills to be a very good player.

It's kind of like Rob Schremp. Everyone knew he was one of the most talented players in the world(or skillful, anyway), and his potential was very high, but no one expected him to ever touch it, which he didn't. Didn't mean his potential was that of an AHL scorer or even a second line guy(I think most saw him as first liner or bust).

Rob Schremp was never "one of the most talented players in the world." He had great hands, no hockey sense, and not particularly impressive skating.

In terms of God given talent, the description fits. Could and probably still can do things with the puck that most of the NHL would only dream of, skating wasn't great, but what a magician with the puck, it made up for it. He wasn't Alexei Kovalev, but still quite talented.

And I should clarify, when I say one of the most talented in the world, I mean in a top-50 sense. Different from a best hockey player in the world title, where I'd probably talk top 10 or 15, all from the NHL. Of the guys with the most God given talent, wouldn't be surprised if 15+ of them aren't even in the league. Talent is a fairly small part of what makes a hockey player successful.

I don't see anything special about LA's pool, as I count voynov and bernier regulars now

I really don't either. Looking at their least, also can't believe their ridiculous rating for Bud Holloway and how he isn't even included on their list. Pretty funny, but I guess that's how you treat a talented prospect who will probably never play for your organization.

Just wanted to confirm this.
Not sure what happened there, but as mentioned, these are the rankings made in the Fall.

Some (perhaps) good news regarding William Karlsson. HV71 and Jukka Voutilainen went different paths yesterday, so as it stands right now, Karlsson is HV71's 3rd line center behind Davidsson and Krog. Although, Voutilainen has been playing the wing a lot in HV71 as well, so the idea might have been to use Karlsson as the 3rd line C anyways.

They're actually in the process of being finalized.
I asked some of the higher-ups about this date thing and was told that it happened as part of their preparations for the release of the new list.

Expect to see the new list come out later this month.

Kitchener Ranger and 2011 Ducks draft pick John Gibson was just named to the OHL Third All-Star team for the 2011-2012 season.

And for everyone that feels "third" all-star team doesn't sound flashy enough - he's sharing that attribute with Nail Yakupov.

So it would be a fair trade to send him to Edmonton for the #1 overall, if I'm following you correctly here......

Sounds like fair value to me, just different positions. Someone tell Bob to get it done.

Apparently the consensus is that Ryan Murray will be playing in the NHL next season. Not limiting it to that, but should the Ducks find a way to move up to #4 and try and get him?

I also believe the consensus is that he will be picked #2...

Really! That's news to me. I thought it would be Yakupov, Grigorenko, Galchenyuk/Forsberg picked with the top-three selections.

He was a sure #2 pick when Oilers had that pick. But I'm still quite convinced CBJ will pick him at second as well.

Hardly.... He may be picked at 2, but in no way is that a consensus pick.

I think there has been too much of an emphasis on guys going straight to the NHL after being drafted. Very few seem to light the league on fire and I'm not so sure it helps these kids as much as more lower level seasoning might. And I think that is especially true of defensemen. I would not try and move up for him.

Totally agree. On top of that I wouldn't call it a positive for this team to have another defenseman under the age of 22 playing regular minutes.

I've said it a few times here, but I am in favor of packaging for a 2nd line C or trading down at this spot.
