Prust would cost a fortune to pry out of NYR. I don't really want to spend 6-7 mil on the 4th line when we need a 20-25 goal scorer in the top 6 and a crease cleaner on defense.

You're right. We don't have that luxury when just three guys like Gomez, Bourque and Kaberle take ~15 mil of the cap. It sucks.

Gomez you have to assume he is waived and his cap hit is gone or it will be hard to improve/fill some holes.

Bourque's cap hit is 3.3 mil, even by trading him you open another hole that would cost that much or more to fill so makes no sense to dump him. I think he can pretty easily outproduce his cap hit if he bounces back at all.

Kaberle would be money in and money out if we can add a big stay at home d-man then look at moving him in late July early August.

It's easy to say clear gazillions of cap room but there is not an infinite amount of talent to bring in, Gomez is not only a big cap hit but has no projectable role next year with Eller-DD-Plekanec in place.

Bergevin specifically singled out Price and Subban in his press conference and wants to build around them.

I think both will get 5 or more years to lock up the core of this team.

Price 6yrs/36M
Subban 5yrs/22.5M

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Parenteau
Bourque - Desharnais - Cole
Moen - Eller - Gionta
White - Dumont - Staubitz

Happy? Happy.

I don't want PAP anywhere close to a first line, or to the team for that matter.

This said, I wouldn't split Pacioretty and DD -- if anything, the one I'd leave out with Plek is Cole, and , if anything, Bourque - Eller - Leblanc would deserve another try.

Did Bourque ever played RW?

I would think that current contracts factor into the situation for reference as it seems logical that it would but if not then so be it.

I wouldn't mind if they locked him up for 4/5 years, but I don't think that's a good approach since he's had only 2 full seasons in the NHL. I think it would be better to sign him for a shorter length on hopefully a cheaper contract and then after that give him his big contract when he's 25 and buy out several UFA years. But we'll see what MB does.

Letang got 4 years at 3.5 million when the salary cap was lower. Subban's got to be looking at 4 million per year.
That's an interesting example, I hope they don't go that route cause that would take him to 27 and I'd rather see him signed to 2 contracts before his UFA days

I wouldn't just assume that until we see what they will do.

Subban 5 years, $21m - $4,2m cap hit [$3,25m/$3,25m/$4.0m/$4,5m/$6.0m (UFA year)]

Price 4 years, $23m - $5,75m cap hit [$4,5m/$4,5m/$7.0m/$7.0m]

Eller 3 years, $5,4m - $1,8m cap hit [$1,5m/$1,75m/$2,15m]

Blunden has earned a 1 year, one-way contract at league minimum.
White should accept his qualifying offer.
Staubitz, 1 year league minimum.
Darche, 1 year two-way contract. He will need to re-earn his spot at camp and if he doesn't he'd be a good veteran addition in Hamilton, especially with the loss of Henry.

Emelin, 2 years, $2,75m - $1,375m cap hit [$1.0m/$1,75m]
Moen, 2 years, $4.0m - $2,0m cap hit [$2,0m per year]
Diaz, 1 year, $975,000.

Bishop, Masse and Slaney should not be given qualifying offers, but Masse & Slaney could be re-signed to minor league deals.

Henry, Stafford, Callahan, Willsie, Campoli and Lawson let go as UFAs.

Geofrrion, Conboy, Fortier, St.Denis, Nash should be given Q.Os.

New homes should be found for: Weber, Palushaj, Mitera, Avtsin, and Engqvist.

Kishel and Westin won't be signed.

I find you're a bit high on Eller, Pacioretty got less than that and he had a better year in 10-11. Eller 2 years 2.5 total I think.

Why would you sign Masse to an AHL contract but give Fortier a QO when Masse was much better then Fortier has been.

Also Avtsin is under contract for 2 more years, so not sure where he would go.

UFA's -

Travis Moen- gone, he will test the UFA market and sign a 3 year/3M contract elsewhere. It is a very weak UFA class this year.
Chris Campoli- gone
Mathieu Darche- gone, I really love him but we need room for young players to step up
Brad Staubitz- 1 year @ 600k
Garrett Stafford- gone
Brian Willsie- gone
Joe Callahan- gone
Nathan Lawson- gone

RFA's -

Carey Price- 7 years @ 6.5M he will get top dollar this off season
Lars Eller- 2 year @ 1.8M give him two years to prove his worth and then sign him long term. Same thing was done to Price.
Alexei Emelin- 2 years @ 1.75M lets face it, he was the most physical defencemen on the team and will only get better.
Raphel Diaz- 1 year @ 1M
PK Subban- 2 years @ 3.75M Same contract as what Price got coming off of their ELC. Prove your worth and then the next contract is the big one.
Ryan White- 1 year @750K
Mike Blunden- 1 year/one way/600k
Petteri Nokelainen- gone, try and trade for a 7th rounder
Mark Mitera- gone
Blake Geoffrion- 1 year/two way 800K
Hunter Bishop- gone
Andreas Engqvist- one year/two way/750k
Brendon Nash- 1 year/2 way/800K
Aaron Palushaj- 1 year/2 way 700K
Olivier Fortier- 1 year/2 way 700k
Frédéric St-Denis- 1 year/two way 800K
Robert Slaney- gone
Andrew Conboy- 1 year/two way 600k
Danny Masse- 1 year/two way 650K

UFA's -

Travis Moen- gone, he will test the UFA market and sign a 3 year/2.5M contract elsewhere.
Chris Campoli- probably gone, but actually I think if a guy like Larry Robinson came in to work with the defencemen, he could help Campoli A LOT! I would sign him cheap and give him a chance in training camp under a new coaching staff.
Mathieu Darche- gone,
Brad Staubitz- 1 year @ league minimum
Garrett Stafford- gone
Brian Willsie- gone
Joe Callahan- gone
Nathan Lawson- gone

RFA's -

Carey Price- 7 years @ 6.5M
Lars Eller- 2 year @ 1.5M
Alexei Emelin- 3 years @ 2M will only get better.
Raphel Diaz- consider not giving him a qualifying offer and maybe sign for less, then possibly trade bait
Yannick Weber, 1 yr QO, keep over Diaz
PK Subban- 6 years @ 4.5M
Ryan White- 1 year @ 10% raise
Mike Blunden- 1 year/one way/600k
Petteri Nokelainen- gone
Mark Mitera- try to sign to two-way contract
Blake Geoffrion- 1 year/two way 850K
Hunter Bishop- gone
Andreas Engqvist- gone
Brendon Nash- 1 year/2 way/800K
Aaron Palushaj- 1 year/2 way 700K
Olivier Fortier- 1 year/2 way 700k
Frédéric St-Denis- 1 year/two way 800K
Robert Slaney- gone
Andrew Conboy- 1 year/two way league minimum
Danny Masse- 1 year/two way 650K

Needs more talent on the fourth line and a veteran defensive centreman. And need a top six forward with gamebreaking ability.

Why would Eller get a bigger contract than Pacioretty did last summer?

Would like to keep Moen. He should give us a discount. We have done a lot to support him and he has played his role well for us.

One year contract. Redo of last year. That would be best but I would be ok with two years at a lower price.

UFA's -

Travis Moen- 3 years @1.85M a year
Chris Campoli- gone
Mathieu Darche- 1 year @ 700K
Brad Staubitz- 1 year @ league minium

Raphel Diaz- 1 year @ 950K
PK Subban- 2 years @ 2.5M
Ryan White- 1 year @750K
Mike Blunden- 1 year one way at league minium
Petteri Nokelainen- gone
Mark Mitera- possibly gone
Blake Geoffrion- 1 year two way 800K
Hunter Bishop- possible retired or gone
Andreas Engqvist- back to Sweden
Brendon Nash- 1 year 2 way@ 900K
Aaron Palushaj- 1 year 1 way 700K
Olivier Fortier- possibly gone
Frédéric St-Denis- 1 year two way @ 850K
Robert Slaney- possibly gone
Andrew Conboy- 1 year two way at league minium
Danny Masse- 1 year two way @ 650K
Had the right amount of money but was a year short on Moen.

Should have flipped Blunden with Noke, was a little high on White and not sure what i was thinking with Nash getting 325K more then he got clearly he wasn't getting 900k after missing an entire season although I was at work when I put this together. Thought they might have brought back Darche but wasn't overly concerned one way or the other.

Will be interesting to see how far apart I am on the rest of the deals.
