They can have Eller and a 1st but not this year's 1st. Maybe next year I would do it. Add Winnipeg's 2nd

this one I might do, but I don't know. I'd rather give up a bunch of 2nds over Eller

Thing is I'm sure they will want a roster player back and a young one. I really like Eller but if we could land Kane and Eller is the price to pay, it's got to get done IMO

You're also giving up a potential 1st liner in the #3 pick.

I think Winnipeg has backed themselves into a corner. They had all year to trade him and decided to wait it out.

Now, Kane is worth not much more than is coming their way in an offer sheet and if Kane doesn't want to stay there they almost certainly have to let him go (if he signs an offer sheet). I would rather pay next year's 1st and 3rd then what Winnipeg fans seem to think he's worth. It's a matter of waiting them out.

Ahh, that would make more sense. I think even if we are unlucky I don't see another top 10 pick next year. If you add Kane it almost guarantees a playoff spot.

keep the top line, add Kane to Pleks and Gio = Playoffs for sure. But Kane won't be had cheaply.

Rumors around the league are that he is not happy in Winnipeg

and a pretty good package for a pretty good player, not really scared when the player we are getting back is worth the trade

Kane & Byfuglien were both supposedly unhappy in Winnipeg, how much truth there is to that,Bergevin would have a better idea.Kane would fit the new breed of player in the NHL to a tee and mesh well with the majority of the forwards here now. It's a good thing the Jets have all summer to make a deal, unless there is a defenceman in the draft they want badly.Kane would look real good on a line with Eller & Leblanc.IMHO.

You don't trade for a player like Kane to put him on a 3rd line...... He's the perfect winger for Plek....

Too rich for my money. Especially when you consider the picks might very well be two top 5 picks.

BIG pass.

Neither. Especially not Ovechkin, I wouldn't touch him with a 10-foot pole.

Expanding on my 'neither': I'm all for quality>>Quantity but Max and Subby are quality players as well. Not at the level of Malkin but the habs should be more concerned developing quality players at a lower price than paying the premium for already developed players.

Trades of this nature, while sometimes useful, tend to be a perfect example of buying high when it's much better to make proper deals and have proper support staff(development) that does not hinder the direction of a team.

I'm more of a fan of buying low. For instance, guys like Chris Stewart don't come with same price tag they once had and could be solid additions for us at a lower price. They may provide us with a need and a future core piece. I don't necessary mean C Stewart specifically but just an example.

The max salary with 1st and 3rd compensation is 4.7mil - I'm sure the Jets would match that. To make them think about letting Kane go, I think you have to get into the 6mil range. Basically the bracket the Leafs threatened for Kessel (who is a pretty good production by age comparable for Kane), adjusted for cap inflation.

BTW I'm not sour on offer sheets at all, but I think the opportunity is in the 3mil range (compensation is 2nd round pick), late in the offseason, when some teams are at the cap. I was screaming for the Habs to offer sheet Alzner or Anisimov last offseason. I thought the Rangers and Caps would've been hard pressed to deal with that situation.

Just throwing this out there... This is a move that I find could help the habs for the coming seasons

TO FLA
Subban
2012 1st

TO MTL
Huberdeau
Kulikov

I think in this situation it's a win-win for both teams. We get our big center that we have been looking for that the 2012 does not look to offer and we get a defensemen that has as much talent as PK

Just a little sarcasm,Winnipeg has backed themselves into a position of need now.Eller being the type in two years to center Kane all i'm saying.
