If the Oilers take Murray, that'll be the first major mistake of Stu MacGregor's career. You don't not go BPA at #1.

I'm pretty convinced he'll end up being an Islander. If that happens I really wouldn't be surprised to see him paired with Hamonic to start the year on the 2nd pairing. Streit and mystery UFA at the top.

Hamonic is the Isles best defender at this point, so I think playing with him could make the transition a lot easier for Murray. If Murray shows he belongs next year, I think they will quickly become NYI's top-pairing and stay there for a long, long time.

Unless EDM trades down to spot 2 or 3, or some other team jumps ahead of the Islanders, I just don't see Murray being picked before the 4 spot. The Isles passing on him there, IMO, is just as unlikely.

well not just as, but close.

Because Filatov is much better

Truthfully, the past coach's system(sic), kills him.

From my understanding, Murray chooses not to play an uptempo offensive game and would rather play a more defensively responsible game. He probably wants to prove he can play defense first. However, he could end up as the next Jay Bouwmeester....

JayBo's dumb as a door knob. Hockey sense and in general.

Not gonna be this kid's problem.

I could see something like a prime Wade Redden and just maybe a Ryan Suter.

There are some prospects that scouts fall in love with. Murray seems to be one of those guys.

To those who says well scouts know everything and they are paid to do this, well they also miss a lot of talented players. However, I do agree, they know more than us.

This World Championship will go against him, I think a lot of scouts will see that he's not really made for top 2 Defenceman material, where Dumba may be.

If he falls into the Draft, it will be because of the World Championship

It's from what I've personally seen, and I would have to say my list is closer to Craig Button's than not.

I doubt playing in the WHC will make his draft stock drop. All it does is show that he's not ready to play against NHL calibre players yet.

See, that makes no sense to me whatsoever.

If Murray is not doing well against NHLers and that equals "Murray is not top 2 defenseman material", what does that say about Dumba who is not even on the roster?

Saying he is playing against NHLers is a bit of an exaggeration....some of these teams at the WC are very shallow.

The Swiss had 3 NHLers playing, 1 of them being Nino who should be in Junior.

France is a bad team with 0 NHLers. I would imagine several WHL teams could beat them.

Slovakia had 1 NHL forward playing.

The only team filled with plenty of NHLers Canada has faced so far is the USA.

That's a very good point. Also adding to that, your also surrounded by All Stars with the exception of Luke Schenn and solid goal tending.

If he gets drafted by top 3, none of those teams are talented as the one he's playing with right now.

Sure, one of the most effective shutdown defencemen in the league is dumb as a doorknob. You should write a book.

I doubt it. You're comparing a team of men, half of whom are capable of playing in the AHL against boys who are playing at a level closer to the ECHL.

Oilers will draft him except not 1st overall but 2nd or most likely 3rd or 4th and grab other assets in the same deal.

Last time I checked GMs don't take that into consideration when making a selection.

Schenn's been awful for most of the tournament though. One decent game does not overwrite that quite yet.
