Nick Luukko is from West Chester, PA and was drafted by the Flyers back in 2010. Not to mention his father is the president and COO of the organization that owns the Flyers.

I bet there was no influence there
EDIT: Luukko... Finnish guy... No wonder they like Finns so much. Same with Carolina (I think) and Minnesota drafting so many Finns because they have Finnish head scouts.

I think I read somewhere Ludvig Bystrom is one too. We'll see if the Hawks draft him this year.
Haha, no he isn't.

Duchene was a huge Avs fan as a kid, but a portion of those players are hometown boys

Emerson Etem grew up in the LA area but grew up rooting for the Kings.
Hopefully we can add Nick Kerdiles from Irvine (Orange County), CA

Not his favorite team, but Campbell's idol growing up was Marty Turco.

The Sabres always seem to try and get hometown guys.
The most recent examples are Kaleta, the draft-day trade for Tim Kennedy and last year's 6th rounder Alex Lepkowski.
I'm not sure about guys like Pominville, who grew up just across the border, but I'm sure there's more.

Not sure if you were talking about McNeill or Bystrom... but McNeill definitely was.

His favorite team is listed as the Blackhawks on his draft bio, which was up before the draft took place. So unless he lied for no reason....
